Series: The Will of God
Sunday am 17 January 2016 – Kobus Swart
Prov. 29: 18; Jer. 29:11:13; Eph. 2:10 AMP; Ps. 139.16; (Eccl. 3:11);
(Ezek. 37:1-14); (Gen. 35:16-21); Rom. 12:2; (Jer. 17:9); Amos 9:13-15
We are positioning for a new season that God has promised us. It is important to know this: Where there is no vision the people are unrestrained or the people perish (Prov. 29:18). A vision means: ‘revelation or a supernatural disclosure’, not just any little “dream”. Many people confuse the word dream with prophetic direction. People say: ‘I want to live my dream!’ What does that mean? do you want to live the vision, the plan that God has ordained for you to walk in? I call it His master plan. When people do not have vision they perish or they suffer ruin or destruction, especially in the season and day we are living in. It takes as much effort to live an unfulfilled life as one that richly rewards you. So why do you continue living an unfulfilled life? Is your life fulfilled at the moment? Have you connected with the plan of God? Dissatisfaction and frustration come from the absence of direction.
‘For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart’ (Jer. 29:11-13).Search for God with all of your heart. It means putting all irrelevant things aside.
Where do you see yourself in five years? In your life, in your job, in whatever you are pursuing? Do you have a vision? Do you have a revelation from God for your life? The world is too full of attractive distractions and we have to be careful. For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us] (Eph. 2:10 Amplified). Find out why things are not working in your life. Your eyes have seen my unformed substance; And in Your book were all written. The days that were ordained for me, When as yet there was not one of them (Ps. 139.16). When you were in your mother’s womb God already knew you, He had plans for you. That plan has your name on it. Until you connect with God’s plan for your life you will not be fulfilled. Your spirit man has a memory of your future, a memory placed there by God. If you are so busy, so active and not fulfilled, take a break! You were pre-known by God before you were born.
Alexander Chisango brought a Word that I think is worth to listen to again. In order to effectively embrace the new season that God promised, we must migrate from inaccurate, inadequate, expired and limited postures, locations and relationships. This can keep you meditating before the Lord for a few weeks. “Lord, what about certain postures that I have, certain locations where I am or visit, relationships that are holding me back?”
Ezekiel 37 starts with a valley full of dry bones (Ezek. 37:1-14). God asked the prophet what he saw and did he think the bones could live? God asked him to prophesy to the wind; to the Spirit; the Ruach. There was first a rattling and a noise of the dry bones. That was because of inaccurate positions, inaccurate locations, inaccurate relationships. How is the confusion in the Church of God worldwide going to come to an end? By the Spirit of God activated by the prophetic Word, because bone has to come to bone. There is yet to be a rattling, a noise in the Church of Jesus Christ. Until that happens we will not see the Church rise up like the giant described in the book of Ezekiel. Together these bones will serve a corporate function. These apply to spiritual, economic, social and political spheres. All of these spheres at the moment need adjustment; need migration to find their correct place. There is a new season beckoning us but we have to make certain moves.
Genesis 35 tells the Story of Jacob and Rachel (Gen. 35:16-21). The time came for Rachel to give birth to her last son. She was in the process of giving birth yet she was busy dying. In her last breath she called him Ben-Oni meaning “Son of my pain, son of my sorrow”. When Jacob came he changed his name to Benjamin meaning “the son of the right hand”. Here is a principle: Dying always happens in the midst of new life. As a new season dawns, the old season is passing away. In the same way, living always happens in the midst of death. This picture of the dying of Rachel and of the son of this right hand illustrates it. What we need is to find how we are positioned for this new season.
Ready to jump? Before you jump, find out what the will of God is. Where do you jump to? Sometimes we think experience in our walk with God, is all we need. Do you really know the will of God for you? Here is an important key: And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect (Rom. 12:2). Dietrich Bonhoeffer says, “What does it mean ‘prove the will of God’? The will of God may lie very deeply concealed beneath a great numbers of available possibilities. The will of God is not a system of rules which was established from the outset. It is something new and different in each different situation in life. For this reason a man must anew examine what the will of God may be”. What does it mean? Maybe what may have been the will of God in a certain scenario 20 years ago might not be the will of God for me again today. You need a fresh approach and a fresh hearing to find the will of God before you jump. The heart, the understanding, the observation and the experience must all collaborate in this task. They must all work together to find the will of God. Now we understand why it takes renewal of the mind to prove what the will of God is. “
It is no longer of a matter of a man’s own knowledge of good and evil but solely of the living will of God. Eve was tempted to eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. They took a shortcut into the knowledge of evil and good without eating from the tree of life. This is what religion does today. It gives you a list of rules of what is wrong and right but it has failed to give you life. Our knowledge of the will of God is not something that we ourselves dispose of but it depends solely on the grace of God and this grace is required to be new every morning. “This is why examining the will of God is such a serious matter. The voice of the heart is not to be confused with the will of God.”(Bonhoeffer) Your heart can be deceived (Jer. 17:9), your heart can be motivated with the wrong motives. No inspiration or any general principle for the will of God discloses itself ever anew only to him who proves it ever anew. Do you have an intense desire to do only the will of God? Even Jesus had a will that could go contrary. That is why He prayed, NOT MY WILL BUT THINE BE DONE!
This year we are going to see and experience acceleration. Are you ready? “Behold, days are coming,” declares the Lord, “When the plowman will overtake the reaper. And the treader of grapes him who sows seed; When the mountains will drip sweet wine And all the hills will be dissolved.
“Also I will restore the captivity of My people Israel, And they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them; They will also plant vineyards and drink their wine, And make gardens and eat their fruit. “I will also plant them on their land, And they will not again be rooted out from their land
Which I have given them,” Says the Lord your God (Amos. 9:13-15). How can a plowman overtake the reaper? Seasons are going to overtake other seasons. If you are like me, say “Lord, bring it on!” Bring the acceleration. My question is: are we ready? That means no impulsive jumping but seeking to find the will of God. If you feel that you are stuck, you want to break loose; this new season will change a lot of things in your life.
