By faith Abraham lived as an alien in the land of promise…..for he was looking for the city which has foundations.  All the faith heroes gained approval through their faith, did not receive what was promised, because God had provided something better for us, so that apart from us they should not be made perfect. What a responsibility upon us who are still running the race…! Jesus – the pattern Son – lived in heaven on earth, and He prepared the way, so that in Him we are no longer strangers and aliens, but fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household.

We must remember that we have been co-buried together with Christ in His death, and we were co-raised with Him into a new lifestyle. Our citizenship is referenced in our joint position with Christ in heavenly places! As the apostle Paul says, “I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet, but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead…!” Our citizenship is in heaven! And we know that the Lord Jesus Christ, will transform the body of our humble state into conformity with the body of His glory!

Are we still living as aliens in the land of promise…? Let us be imitators of those who through FAITH and patience inherit the promises!
