Upon discovering the empty tomb, the two women were instructed by an angel to go and tell the disciples that Jesus had risen. The message of His resurrection was both wonderfully joyous and terribly dangerous. Those among the scoffers at Golgotha were the cheif priests, teachers of the law and elders in the community. Being a carrier of the good news meant confronting powerful institutions and worldly mindsets with the news that Jesus Christ died and rose again. But being a Christian is to be like Christ. Therefore, in this life we will be asked to pick up our cross and follow Him and thereby come to the joy of eternal life with Him.
