Speaking in tongues given to you by the Holy Spirit, is not to be discounted, it is still valid. Then there is also the gift of tongues. However there is more than that to the Holy Spirit baptism. We cannot allow patterns of previous seasons (no matter how blessed and anointed they were), to become an empty pattern where we try to force things to happen. Remember the example of Moses who was first told to hit the rock, and subsequently was told to speak to the rock. He hit the rock again because it has worked the previous time and missed the land of promise because of disobedience (Num. 20:8-12). We cannot repeat patters without listening to what God is instructing us now. […]

Sonship Revealed In Us And Conferred On Us

Our heart’s desire is that what is planted will come to fruition and that the Word will become flesh again and we will impact our sphere of influence. We know that the stature of Christ grows until we come to mature man. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time (this present life) are not worth being compared with the glory that is about to be revealed to us and in us and for us and conferred on us! (Rom. 8:18-Amp). This is sonship! The kingdom belongs to true sons, it is our heritage. The alignment with the word of the kingdom will bring about this mature incarnation. At a critical moment you will have the unveiling. But at the critical point of fruit-bearing you will find there is something similar to wheat that comes up in the field (Matt. 13:24-26). The enemy comes unnoticed and only at the bearing of what it was created for, the difference becomes apparent.

The New Wineskin Under Construction

No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse. Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved (Matt. 9:16-17). Jesus was referring to the old wineskin in His days which was Judaism. Jesus brought new wine and they were not ready to receive it. In our times an old wineskin refers to previous seasons in Church history. God is busy constructing a new wineskin. What will it look like and how will it be constructed? We are surrounded by mind-sets of institutionalism and organizations which have become inflexible that cannot handle new wine.

The Apostolic Grace Of Sonship (A True Apostolic Church)

No single person carries the keys of the Kingdom by himself or herself; the keys will be given to a Church built upon the (corporate) Rock. The kingdom of God is related to the principle of sonship. If we can understand the depth of the meaning of sonship it will change our lives and it will become our main desire. True Christianity is all about sonship.

A Church With The Keys Of The Kingdom (A True Apostolic Church)

Where the gospel of the kingdom is accurately proclaimed, God has promised to back it up with demonstration. I do not write these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet you would not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. Therefore I exhort you, be imitators of me. For this reason I have sent to you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, and he will remind you of my ways which are in Christ, just as I teach everywhere in every church. Now some have become arrogant, as though I were not coming to you. But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I shall find out, not the words of those who are arrogant but their power. For the kingdom of God does not consist in words but in power (1 Cor. 4:14-20).

The Altar Of Incense: Activating Worship And Prayer

We needed to activate worship and prayer on a deeper level. To grasp what the altar of incense reveals concerning worship and prayer we need to understand the tabernacle of Moses, and how this was a shadow of Christ and of the Church. Col. 2:16-17 - Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.

Intimacy With God

James, the brother of Jesus, according to Bible scholars, writes his letters to Christians on the topics of perseverance, true faith, controlling one’s tongue, submitting to God and patience. What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members? You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures. You adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.

Taming The Tongue

What we occupy our mind with, the negative or the positive eventually filters through in our exchanges with other people. But we’ve heard it said that as His people, we need to be dispensers of His presence. Wherever you are and whatever you do, you are a dispenser of His presence. People do not need to come to church to feel His presence, all they need to do is tap into you and find out what is happening.

Our Citizenship In The Kingdom Of Heaven

When we look at the kingdom of God, is the first thing we must remember, is that kingdom has a KING and everything revolves around Him! Everything about the kingdom honours Him, Jesus Christ our Lord. In Him everything was created, through Him, to Him, He was the first-born of all creation. Secondly, we can also not talk about the kingdom of God without referring to the Holy Spirit (Rom 14:17). More about this in our next sessions…

Developing A Kingdom Mentality (The Power Of Word Based Imagination)

God wants us to live with a Kingdom (God’s government or rule) mentality. A good place to start is to remember that the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Rom. 14:17).

Environment And Presence

We need to pick up the frequency of the Holy Spirit; we have to tune in our receiver. We have to exercise our spirit man (Eph. 5:14), pick up the frequency of the Spirit of God and respond to that. We have to be tuned spiritually, not just naturally. Our spirit-man exalts God. He responds to thanksgivings and not to moaning. He responds to the corporate opening of our mouths. Thanksgiving must come out of our mouth to express our thanksgivings to God (Ps. 100:5; Ps. 106:1; Ps. 107:1: Ps. 136:3; Ps. 118:29). When we respond corporately and when we release something from our spirit man, God responds with His presence and we know in our spirit-man He is here. We release something of His presence; we do not only come for presence, we release presence; we release who we are. In the corporate environment we can release the presence of God.

James – On Favouritism

As we come into the Christian faith we are birthed from the word of truth. We draw our example for living from this book, drawing all our ways of life from this book. Our lifestyles need to be corrected as we come into this faith. We are birthed through the word of truth and thus need to show a practical demonstration of that life change. We cannot change by receiving information; we have to respond by actually changing the way we do things by what we have heard from the word of truth. In the book of James, lesser and smaller issues are put under a microscope. We are challenged not to ignore the issues, but to take active steps addressing them and addressing our behaviour to ourselves, towards God and all the people around us.

Observe, Obey, Migrate

There have been a number of ‘Exodus experiences’ for the people of God who had to migrate in order for the promises of God to be fulfilled. It is a group of people migrating together; especially in a given time period. In nature animals migrate from one region to another for breeding or feeding purposes. It speaks of the survival of the species and it facilitates the incubation of the next generation. If there is no migration there is death. Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go forth from your country, And from your relatives And from your father’s house, To the land which I will show you” (Gen. 12:1).

Building An Unshakeable House

The book of James has 108 verses, 54 of them are commands. He really does get to the point. Jesus said, ‘As for everyone who comes to me and hears my words and puts them into practice, I will show you what they are like. They are like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built’ (Luke 6:47-48). There are many Christians who accept the grace and continue to live in the house that is shaking all the time. We have to learn to put these things into practise in our lives.

In Hebrews 9 the Tabernacle of Moses is described with one or two significant differences from the Old Testament. The tabernacle of Moses had three courts: the outer court where all the sin sacrifices took place; the Holy Place with the lamp stand, the table of shew bread and the altar of incense and in the Holy of Holies, the Ark of the Covenant and what it means. Our personal history and journey with God as we migrate or advance from the outer court to spiritual maturity. In Hebrews 9 there is no mention of the outer court; the reason is very simple: Jesus came as the once for all sacrifice. […]

Trials And Temptations

James is different to all other New Testament writers. He was a very blunt person and told it like it is. His words make us feel uncomfortable and put the spotlight on us with no escape. He was writing to the Jewish converts, telling them to focus on doing and being Christians. There were Jewish people who converted to Christianity but they were still stuck in their Jewish way of life and the safety of their old ways.

We are positioning for a new season that God has promised us. It is important to know this: Where there is no vision the people are unrestrained or the people perish (Prov. 29:18). A vision means: ‘revelation or a supernatural disclosure’, not just any little “dream”. Many people confuse the word dream with prophetic direction.  People say: ‘I want to live my dream!’ What does that mean? do you want to live the vision, the plan that God has ordained for you to walk in? I call it His master plan. When people do not have vision they perish or they suffer ruin or destruction, especially in the season and day we are living in. It takes as much effort to live an unfulfilled life as one that richly rewards you. So why do you continue living an unfulfilled life? Is your life fulfilled at the moment? Have you connected with the plan of God? Dissatisfaction and frustration come from the absence of direction.  […]

The Parable Of The Two Lost Sons (Towards the One New Man)

“But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘Son, go work today in the vineyard.’ And he answered, ‘I will not’; but afterward he regretted it and went. The man came to the second and said the same thing; and he answered, ‘I will, sir’; but he did not go. Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.” Jesus said to them, “Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you. For John came to you in the way of righteousness and you did not believe him; but the tax collectors and prostitutes did believe him; and you, seeing this, did not even feel remorse afterward so as to believe him (Matt. 21:28-30).

On What Frequency Are You Hearing?

There are a lot of voices wanting our attention. How you internalize what you have heard determines the result of your hearing. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me (John 10:27). So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ (Rom. 10:17). What children hear continuously while growing up and how they internalise it is the important factor.

Towards Being A People In Rest (The adverse effects of religion)

After this, Jesus, knowing that all things had already been accomplished, to fulfill the Scripture, said, “I am thirsty.” A jar full of sour wine was standing there; so they put a sponge full of the sour wine upon a branch of hyssop and brought it up to His mouth. Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit (John 19:28-30). Even before He went to the cross in His heart He knew all things had already been accomplished. When He said, “It is finished”, all the heavens heard Him – except the ears of man!

“Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool. Where then is a house you could build for Me? And where is a place that I may rest? For My hand made all these things, Thus all these things came into being,” declares the Lord. Here is the answer: “But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word” (Is. 66:1-2). God is looking for a people in whom He will find not just a “house”, but also His rest. In order to get there, there was a certain route He had to take after the fall of man. In six days God created the heavens and the earth, then on the seventh day (which had no morning and no evening), He rested. Man’s first day on this planet was on God’s seventh day, the Sabbath. After the Fall of man, however, religion started to invade the earth.

Faith Endurance And Character Endurance

We are still looking into the book of Judges. It is incredible how something that happened over three thousand years ago is still relevant to us today. We started with Gideon’s story. He was one of the Judges in the time when the Israelites were coming into the land of promise. Gideon had a little bit of trouble accepting his mandate in the beginning when God spoke to him.

Sun am 1 November 2015 – Justus Swart

Judges 6:11-31, 34-40; Luke 11:28-29; 1 Cor. 1:22-23;
James 1:22

Even though God reveals himself to someone, they may still chose to go through life without Him, but God will always get your attention one way or another. God hears and responds to the cries of Israel and He does so by reaching out to Gideon (Judges 6:11-25). Gideon does not have much confidence in himself. Even though God says, “Mighty warrior!” he still says, “But sir …” This response is typical from us when we hear God speaking to us. We can all relate to Gideon’s honesty because he had a good question which many of us ask from time to time, “but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us?” (Judges 6:13). Gideon takes the facts and appeals to God. God replies with almost the same question back to Gideon. God sees that everything is a mess, but says “am I not sending you?” (Judges 6:14). God arrives on the scene to commission Gideon to make a difference. […]

Does God Have Your Attention?

I want you to answer a question in your heart. Does God have your attention? Or is your attention on many other things and other voices? Every now and then, you and I must check that we are connected to the correct frequency. Whenever God speaks, what you hear comes through a certain filter in your mind and it determines how you hear and interpret what God says. God does speak, but it is how we hear Him, how we interpret what He says and what we do about it. There are monks in monasteries in certain parts of the world who know the Bible from cover to cover but they have never met the God of the Word; because the letter kills but the Spirit makes alive (2 Cor. 3:6). Make sure that when you read the Word that you connect with the Spirit.

The Government Of God (First Dismantle All Inaccurate Structures!)

We are talking about the government of God. Jeremiah was already part of a company of priests, then God says to this spiritual man, “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth. See, I have appointed you this day over the nations and over the kingdoms, To pluck up and to break down, To destroy and to overthrow, To build and to plant” (Jer. 1:9-10). ‘You yourselves have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings, and brought you to Myself. Now then, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.’ These are the words that you shall speak to the sons of Israel (Ex. 19:4-6).

“Aliens In The Land Of Promise”? (Participating In God’s End Time Plan)

Whenever I open the Word and study, I end up asking the question: Lord, are we doing what you expect from us? Are we participating in the final chapter of human history and accelerating the pace or are we happily just flowing along from one sermon to another and gathering principles and information? My second question is: Lord, are we engaged with the Word the way you want us to be and are we fleshing it out? Since the year 2000, more and more people admit that there is something God is waiting for. God has decided that we are going to participate in the consummation of history. You know that the Old Testament is explained in the New Testament and the New Testament is hidden in the Old Testament in types and shadows. When we go to the Old Testament it is not only to highlight history, it is to draw on principles that affect us today as the Church. The Israelites are referred to as the congregation in the wilderness (Acts 7:38; 1 Cor. 10:1-11).

A Stand Against Anxiety And Apathy

The book of Judges is a book that’s not heavy with doctrine or theory but has a wealth of interesting characters. You get the romance and betrayal with Sampson and Delilah, the weak overcoming the strong with Gideon. It is a book about people who do not always know what to do, and don’t always have the answers. These people simply live their lives and somehow find redemption by continuously coming back to God.

Let Us Walk As The House Of Joseph

God’s plan will not be thwarted. God said, I will never again curse the ground on account of man (Gen. 8:20-22), and Behold I am going to send you Elijah the prophet… (Mal. 4:5). If we believe in the finished works of Christ, the redemption of man is not the only aspect of the gospel. God’s intent is at the heart of God’s agenda. Dominion grace for God’s people in Christ is God’s agenda, not just the redemption of man. In times of storms and wilderness we lose our way from this agenda. God has not lost control; He is not making things up as He goes along. In the wilderness we must not lose faith; stay true to your true north. Whatever we go through should be a blessing to the next generation.

The Promise: “I Will…” — The Invitation: “Let Us…”

For God had allowed us to know the secret of his plan, and it is this: he purposes in his sovereign will that all human history shall be consummated in Christ, that everything that exists in Heaven or earth shall find its perfection and fulfilment in him (Eph. 1:9-10-JB Philips). It all started in Him and it will finish in Him. It is through Him and for Him all things in heaven and earth have been created and it is going to be consummated in Him (Col. 1:16). That is how human history is going to end. Satan’s final defeat is in the oneness of the Church. That is what Jesus is praying for (John 17:21).

God’s Love For Jacob

God loves the world and He gave His only begotten Son (John 3:3). That love in His heart is still the same; He still loves us. God does not love you only if you are always good. Let’s look at Jacob, who was as human as you and I. I find it reassuring to see how much God loved him. He was one of twins who was born clinging to the heel of his brother Esau (Gen. 25:26). His name means ‘heel catcher’ or ‘supplanter’. There are many Scriptures that refer to Jacob (Micah 5:7-8). Let us put ourselves in that picture.

Jonah 2:1-10; Jonah 3:1-10; Jonah 4:1-11; Jn. 3:16

Many people have reservations about believing the book of Jonah to be a literal account because of the fact that Jonah survived for three days inside of a fish. Their mind gets caught in the physical impossibilities of a human being living inside of a fish. This not just a story that is told to kids who then eventually grow out of believing it. This is a story about God who has immense power and who is not limited to your version of human reality. This is not just a story about a miracle of a man who survived inside of a fish. It is a story about a man who struggled between God’s grace and God’s justice. […]

There is a subconscious thinking in our minds at times that we think of our personal lives and social lives as something that is separate from the Church. We see our commitment to the Church as something that takes away from the commitment to ourselves, our friends and family. Our lives become very busy and we see Sunday as a day to either relax or catch up with friends and family. This is the reality for every person that claims that Jesus Christ is their Lord. The reality for every confessing believer is that God became man in Jesus Christ. John says that the Word became flesh (John 1:14). The Word died, nailed to a cross, taking your place and paying your debt. […]

Prov. 29:18-KJV; (Isa. 50:7); 1 Cor. 10:11; Rom. 13:11; Heb. 1:1-2;
(Num. 14:21); (Hab. 2:14); Heb. 10: 36-39

These are the words of Paul at the end of his life’s journey: For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure has come. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith; in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing (2 Tim. 4:6-8). My prayer is that each one of us comes to a point where we can say, “I have finished my course, my assignment. I may not have seen what I believed for, but I kept the faith. I have not turned my boat around.”  For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them (Eph. 2:10). This refers to the master plan of God. For everyone born on this planet, God has a master plan for his/her life. It should therefore be everyone’s priority to find out what God’s plan is for their life. […]

Our Mandate In This World  – To Be Salt And Light

Today I want to speak about the mandate that was given to us by the Lord Jesus Christ to be the salt and the light of the world (Matt. 5:13-15). When we look at the state the world is in today, are we a little behind schedule? What is preventing us from becoming the salt and the light of the world? Jesus is referring to two elements: salt and light. We know that salt is used to flavour food, to preserve the meat and fish and is also known for its healing qualities. Then light reveals what is hidden. Then God said, “Let there be light” (Gen. 1:3).

Storms In Your Life? Get Jesus Into Your Boat!

Let’s look at some very relevant principles in the following story of Jesus and His disciples… Immediately He made (=compelled) the disciples get into the boat and go ahead of Him to the other side (Matt 14:22). We always want Jesus to go ahead of us, or with us. There are times when He would simply instruct you to go ahead. After He had sent the crowd away He went up to the mountains by Himself to pray, it was evening He was there alone (Matt 14:23). The time that He told the disciples to go and get in the boat it was still day time. But the boat was already a considerable long way from the land, battered by the waves for the wind was contrary.

Overcoming Our Conditioned Responses

There is hardly anybody who does not occasionally react or respond from some conditioning of the past. Our political and cultural history – for example, the racial divides of the past – left a lot of people with deep hurts which were built into the subconscious and can cause conditioned responses in certain conversations/circumstances. When we hear something or see something it triggers a response. Some responses go back to our childhood; the way you were treated at home or at school by teachers. That can leave scars in your deep inner being which will make you react in a certain way much later in life. Many, even Christians, are held hostage by their conditioned responses. Until those emotions have been dealt with you can expect certain reactions. Paul and his apostolic company knew how to deal with these mind-sets and conditioned responses in a church that was very problematic (2 Cor. 10:4-5).

Daniel’s Courage

Every single culture that has existed over time has always recognised courage as a quality or characteristic that is worthy of praise. The beautiful thing about courage is that it is not only limited to physical strength. Courage has very little to do with your ability to be a strong person physically but it describes the quality that allows you to act in the face of frightening and sometimes dangerous circumstances. This morning I would like us to focus on the kind of courage it takes to live every single day as yourself, to live true to your convictions. The world tells us that it is often easier and simpler to just conform, to live like everybody else and to just assume the opinions and thoughts of the masses.

The Discipline Of Sonship

When God starts something His intention is for it to multiply. So often, however, we’ve seen that which God started, falling into the wrong hands and before you know it, the move of God stagnates. The cry in my heart is for history not to repeat itself in this generation. The scribe that has become a disciple of the kingdom will take out of his treasure things both old and new (Matt. 13:52). You do not throw everything away. There are treasures that God delivered throughout the church age which cannot go lost. We have to see this international universal ‘wineskin’ connected so God can pour out the best wine which is reserved for last. He is not going to pour out the best wine into old broken wineskins.

The Centrality Of The Son Of God

It is very clear that Jesus was the first born of all creation (Col. 1:15; John 1:2). Through Him and for Him all things have been created (Col. 1:16). A question we should ask – especially since Jesus said that “as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be at the coming of the Son of Man…” – is “what brought God to a point of being grieved and sorry that He had made man?” (Gen. 6:6,7). It sounds impossible and without logic that the sovereign all-knowing God created man and then was sorry that He had made him. God was ready to wipe out mankind, animals and plants, everything.

There is a principle in the United Nations Convention on the rights of a child; the principle being that everything that is done should be done in the best interest of the child and it should be supreme and supersede all other principles. The primary consideration is the best interests of the child. We as a country are signatory of this principle. How much more will the standard of the Kingdom of God supersede all others because of his love and concern for children? (Luke 11:11-13). Setting An Example – 1 Timothy 4:12

Even children form part of this amazing thing that we call the Body of Christ or the Church. They are not simply here to only play games or be entertained, but are here to take part in the life of Jesus Christ. Timothy and Titus were not actually pastors in the traditional sense but they were sent into areas/churches that were experiencing problems. Timothy was roughly 35 years old and considered to be a young man in comparison to the other leaders in the church. He was sent to correct the problem of false teaching but he was having difficulty communicating with them.

I want to focus on our relationship with God, how to pray effectively and how to hear accurately. For any relationship to succeed, communication is important. You cannot go through life having a relationship with a person and never talking to one another. It is important to communicate, even more so in our relationship with God. It is important to know what to say and when to say it. We need to understand that it is not just us talking to God, but God is continuously talking to us. There is a time for us to listen to what God is saying to us. […]

From Powerlessness To Surrender To True Faith

For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.

Abigail’s Heart In A Time Of Change

After the death of Samuel a massive shift took place for the people of God. That which God instituted, His rulership as it was executed through the prophet, had changed. Samuel was part of the judiciary of God. He moved in places like Gilgal, Mizpah and Bethel. He always returned to his home in Ramah but he functioned through God and in what God instituted. The people of God were not happy. The elders came to Samuel with a request for a king to be over them (1 Sam. 8:6). According to them Samuel was getting too old and there were problems in his household, his sons did not walk in God’s ways.

Wisdom From Ecclesiastes

A large part of our faith journey is learning to challenge the perspectives we have about God, about ourselves and the people around us. "In addition to being a wise man, the Preacher also taught the people knowledge; and he pondered, searched out and arranged many proverbs. The Preacher sought to find delightful words and to write words of truth correctly. The words of wise men are like goads, and masters of these collections are like well-driven nails; they are given by one Shepherd. But beyond this, my son, be warned: the writing of many books is endless, and excessive devotion to books is wearying to the body. The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil" (Eccl. 12:9-14).

We started looking at the Tabernacle of Moses which had three courts. The progression starts from the outer court to the Holy place and to the Holy of Holies. In Hebrew 9 the outer court is not mentioned because Jesus became the once for all perfect sacrifice (Heb. 10:10). So we do not have to go through the Old Testament rituals to get rid of sin and sin consciousness. We are not called to rebuild the Tabernacle of Moses but we do find principles there. The altar of incense which was found in the second court in the Tabernacle of Moses, is then described in Hebrews 9 as being inside the Holy of Holies (Heb. 9:1-5). It means that access to the Holy of Holies is given by prayer, praise and worship. […]

Our Born Identity

We normally ask the question: Who are we and why are we here? Why were we born? What the world wants us to believe is that our identity is formed by circumstances and challenges that we face while we are growing up. Our identity is actually in God. From the very beginning when God created man He said, “I am creating man in my own likeness and image” (Gen. 1:26). That is who we are. Circumstances cannot influence our identity.

Creating Presence

I want to speak about what can happen through the power of one. A whole city can be changed and brought into another culture by the power of one. Using Las Vegas as an example, the power of one (man) released something that influenced the whole society, it created a presence. Out of the presence came an atmosphere, and out of the atmosphere came a climate, and out of the climate came a culture.

Where Is The Church In This Transition?

The Lord began to stir my heart on something that has been working inside my being for a long time about the Church in general. Where are we in this transition? Transition means different things to different people. What is happening in the broad Church? Do you believe that God indiscriminately will share His blessings to whosoever wants to come to the party? God will not say “I am going to bless one but not the other”. The Bible says He will rain on the just and the unjust (Matt. 5:45). He gives His favour to everybody everywhere. The same is true for His blessings and His moves. He is breaking in to church events all over the world. Forget the label on the wall; when God breaks in, He breaks in.

A Church Aligned – Part 2

Jesus practiced all the principles that He taught, they were not separate from Him, but He embodied them fully. Because Jesus was able to do everything He taught others to do, the impact of His testimony was so significant that it changed the whole entire world. Today we will carry on with the other four beatitudes and draw a parallel to Jesus’ arrest and questioning before Pontius Pilot. The last four focus more on persecution.

Live By The Spirit, Enter His Rest

In the subject of rest, I want to link it to the outer man, the man of flesh as opposed to the man of spirit. We can only walk in rest if we walk according to the Spirit. So that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit (Rom. 8:4-5). If we define a walk according to the Spirit, it is a way of walking. Many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of the truth will be maligned (2 Peter 2:2).

A Church Aligned – Part 1

Jesus literally changed the face of the whole earth with only twelve men. Jesus used these simple, ordinary men, and they were martyred and put to death for it. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are (1 Cor. 1:27-28). It is backward to what we want to hear but that is God’s way.

True Confidence

I want to talk to you about confidence. What increases confidence? Paul is challenging the Philippians to stay focused on what he taught them because a group had moved into that church telling them that their faith in Christ was not enough and that they needed to add things to their faith in Christ. They wanted the Philippians to become Jews first as they took the route to becoming Christ followers.

Strong Faith In Difficult Times

In hope against hope he believed, so that he might become a father of many nations according to that which had been spoken, “So shall your descendants be.” Without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah’s womb; yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform (Rom. 4:18-21).

Stop Camping In The Wilderness

Over forty years, Israel camped in the wilderness forty-one times. Travelling around and around; a journey that could have taken a few weeks took forty years. Should we ask whether it was necessary for the Church to wander the way we have for the last 2000 years after the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ? Unless we change our approach we may linger for who knows how long unless we grab a hold of what Jesus meant when he said “it is finished” (John 19:28-30). He has given us everything pertaining to life and godliness, or Godlikeness (2 Pet. 1:3).

Trust – The Key To Rest

Thus the heavens and the earth were completed, and all their hosts. By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made (Gen. 2:1-3). God is in rest, but Jesus said in John 5:17, “My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working”. To be in rest does not mean inactivity, so labour to enter into that rest (Heb. 4:11). Rest happens in your spirit and in your mind but your mind is where a lot of your troubles come from.

We started two weeks ago and did an introduction about cheap grace and costly grace. Cheap grace appeal to our consciences by lulling us into complacency and making us feel as though we have nothing left to strive for. You are fine as you are. We know the saying ‘God loves you but He loves you too much to leave you as you are’. Cheap grace stops at ‘God loves you as you are’. Cheap grace is keeping the Church back from following Jesus the way He would want us to. Cheap grace is incredibly compelling in the world today because it offers us total acceptance without pointing to the cross of Christ. It is the voice in the back of your head that like to say ‘surely I have given enough’. We like to draw parameters around what God requires of us. […]

Now it came about after the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ servant, saying, “Moses My servant is dead; now therefore arise, cross this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them, to the sons of Israel. Every place on which the sole of your foot treads, I have given it to you, just as I spoke to Moses. …

Grace To Follow

This morning we will be re-visiting the familiar topic spoken about grace. Grace is something that even in the world today is always changing shape, its size, its packaging and keeps on turning into something new, something different as people are trying to appeal to the generations. There seems to be a definite confusion in the global Church when it comes to this topic

The Age Of Jubilee (Demolish The Outer Court Mentality)

Let us focus on the age of Jubilee that came in Christ. Jubilee is not a 12-month season. Jubilee came in and with Jesus-Christ. We can dismantle one of the biggest obstacles in our way to experiencing and living the Jubilee. What is holding us back? People always speculate about the exact time on our calendar, but God is above time. He is not trapped in our calendar. We are the ones always looking at calendars and predictions.

Towards Our Sabbath Rest

Truth itself will not set you free. Jesus said you will know the truth (ie. by revelation) and the truth will set you free (John 8:32). Let’s look at the deeper meaning and importance of the ”seventh day”. Thus the heavens and the earth were completed and all their hosts. By the seventh day God completed His work which He had done and he rested on the seventh day from all His work which he and done, Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it because in it He rested from all His work which God has created and made (Gen. 2:1-3)

It’s Time To Move On

The phrase: “And it came to pass” does not mean “it came to stay”. Challenges and tests come as opportunities to grow spiritually. It was the rain and floods in the time of Noah, that lifted the Ark when everybody else perished. It depends on your perspective in life. It is very clear that it is God is able to use all things for good so that our lives should be shaped into the life of His Son (Rom. 8:29 – MSG).

Find God’s Calling For Your Life!

Old Testament history is interesting, but it is more than history, more than stories. It is full of parables, types and shadows. Go a little deeper and you will find a message that applies to you. The letter kills but the Spirit gives life (2 Cor. 3:6). God is saying this to us personally, not just to Jeremiah: “… Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Then I said, “Alas, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, Because I am a youth.” But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am a youth, ’Because everywhere I send you, you shall go, And all that I command you, you shall speak. “Do not be afraid of them, For I am with you to deliver you,” declares the Lord (Jer. 1:1-8).

An Encounter With God

Only a personal encounter with the Lord can truly transform someone’s heart. An encounter with religion will simply not do it. God is Spirit, and the only way we can truly encounter Him is on a spirit level. This is what Jesus explained to Nicodemus when He said we have to be born again to enter God’s kingdom. Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit” (John 3:5-6). Having a public conversion is not the only way to have a salvation encounter. We need to evaluate an encounter by internal transformation rather than external manifestation. Even a quiet surrender to Jesus in the privacy of a home is a true salvation encounter if it brings internal transformation by the Holy Spirit.

This Is The Jesus I Believe In

The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof, the world and all in it – but it is not in good shape. The spirit of burning and of judgement is already in the earth. Here we find seven women running to one man, wanting to use his name, wanting to be validated by association. God is busy purging the earth and He is also washing away the filth of the daughters of Zion. (Isa 4:1-6). John on the Island of Patmos said he heard a voice, and turned to see the voice and saw seven golden lampstands, seven churches (Rev. 1:9-13). In the midst of the lampstands he saw one who resembled a human being (Phillips translation) or the Son of man.

Sent Into The World From A Place Of Grace

Jesus was able to discern and address very directly the particular concerns of each moment. He saw each person that He encountered as historical, emotional and concrete beings and they were all searching for some measure of truth. That is exactly what He gave them, truth, whether they liked it or not (Luke 9:57-62). We can see that Jesus never compromised on the truth. He gave it straight and He gave it plain and simple, but we never see Him replicating a response. Jesus was able to speak the truth because He walked with two basic and essential assumptions.

Towards The Fulness Of Our Birthright

As an apostolic people, walking in governmental authority is our mandate as we are sent out into the world. It translates into walking under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, not simply being part of a church, but also participating in His government on earth.

The Standard – Born From Above (The Church In The World)

We are looking at the role of the Church in the world. We are re-visiting some basics in order to maximise our impact on our surroundings. This morning I want to look at the pattern Son, Jesus. I believe we have a model in Jesus as far as our role in the world is concerned. Throughout the Old Testament God’s servants were told to do certain things according to certain patterns given to them by God. For example we have the very specific instructions and patterns given to Adam, Noah, and Moses etc. In the past 70 years many different patterns emerged to make a church grow. There were different ways and formulas used as they searched for a pattern everywhere but in Scripture.

Revisiting The Prodigal Son

The purpose of preaching is definitely not to fill your head with ideas but its purpose is to shape us and form us into a people who represent a loving God. Put away your pointing fingers and let your life be a vessel of grace that stands for truth. The disciples were a bunch of handpicked fishermen, no one really special. Jesus chooses people of no special inclination and yet with the power and grace of God we can do all things through Him who strengthens us. These average guys were around Jesus when He taught the crowds and performed His miracles. Every now and then they had to ask Him to simplify what He said so that they could understand Him.

From Churchianity To Kingdom Impact

The true Church is God’s vessel in the earth. Jesus said, “I will build my Church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it” (Matt. 16:18). God wants to demonstrate His manifold wisdom through the Church to principalities and powers in heavenly places (Eph. 3:10). However, the word ‘Church’ has many meanings today which created a mind-set, a perception that takes away from what true Church is all about.

The Human Encounter With The Divine Command

God is still on the throne there is absolutely no doubt about it. He has not winded us like robots or clockwork machines. He has given us a free will but He sought to work with us in the most powerful way to transform our thinking and change our direction for the better. He never ever promised that it will be easy. That is why one of the trophies of grace that we have is we are overcomers not victims. A victim-mentality does not belong in the Kingdom. We may have become a victim but then the Lord has turned us into victors. This is the reality of the Kingdom. We are being trained and schooled how to rule whatever the circumstances.

Turn Your Thoughts Into Prayers

The Bible says, “Pray without ceasing” (1 Thess. 5:17). It does not necessarily mean you should go down on your knees and close your eyes. The enemy comes as an angel of light and his ministries as ministries of righteousness (2 Cor. 11:14-15). He is so clever; he has chosen two aspects of God. Satan will quote Scripture to mislead and tempt you. Satan is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44). He was a liar from the beginning, so how can a liar quote Scripture?

Be Released From Futility – Be Loaded With God

We need to believe that we are complete in Christ. The Word of God is clear that we have everything pertaining to life and godliness (2 Pet. 1:3). We will not find a release for ourselves or grow if we focus on our faults and try to correct them. Much of our feelings and our thought- life centers on our lack, our shortcomings and our unfruitfulness. Many times, it is in a period of our life when there is a cutting away. God is a skillful gardener and He knows what to cut away from our lives if it is unfruitful. [That you may really come] to know [practically, through experience for yourselves] the love of Christ, which far surpasses mere knowledge [without experience]; that you may be filled [through all your being] unto all the fullness of God [may have the richest measure of the divine Presence, and become a body wholly filled and flooded with God Himself]! (Eph. 3:19 Amplified). When it seems that there is no growth and there is futility in our lives, we need to be filled with God. We need to be filled with Him when we go through periods of unfruitfulness and futility.

Which Jesus?

Jesus once said, “Man shall not live by bread alone” (Matt. 4:4). By this he meant that all of mankind has a deep hunger for truth and meaning. We desire to be connected with something bigger than ourselves. Just like we have junk food for our stomachs, we also have junk food for our mind and our spirit. Sometimes we have to create a diet for our minds and spirits so we can grow and move forward.

A Finishing Generation – Hastening The Day!

The proceeding Word will not impact your life unless it penetrates your heart and changes your mindset; otherwise it will go in one ear out the other and you leave unchanged. It has to be an encounter with truth, with the Word of God. In this Word, we will shed further light on what is meant by the “finished works” of Jesus. The last words coming from His lips were: “It is finished” (John 19:30).

Our True Identity In A Generation Called Christ

What does it mean to be “saved”? If you are saved and it does not affect your thinking, your life does not change. Many people have gone through the different steps and ways in which you “join” a church, read the Bible and pray. But it has to go deeper than that. It has to affect who you are. In Acts 2 there was the outpouring of the Spirit of God. Then Peter began to speak the living Word which changed the lives of 3000 people.

Three Essential Christian Habits

Listening to God is the very first and most important thing that we need to be dedicating ourselves and our time to. He is the source of all things. In Him we live and move and have our being (Acts 17:28) and the simple act of sitting before God to listen is often overlooked. We over-spiritualize our lives and say, “God is with me in everything I do, so why do I need to sit down and take separate time with God?” How would it work if you tried doing that with other relationships in your life, with your spouse and your children, with your best friend or even your employer? We need to nurture our relationship with God. It is something that is alive and has to grow and be fed. It is something that demands attention. He is a jealous God and He wants all of you.

Dealing With Strongholds In The Mind

The essence of who we are is usually reflected in our thought life. Thoughts affect your brain chemistry and soon it can impact your emotions and even your physical body. We all go through stages in life, challenges and pain. If we are not careful, especially in negative challenges, our thoughts can cause us to go into depression. That is why we have to guard against what our thoughts absorb. We have to practice what the Word says.Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus (Phil. 4:6-7).

Where Is God When It Hurts?

Every morning we have an opportunity to build our lives and steer our lives in the right direction away from destruction. Nothing can separate me from the love of God (Rom. 8:35-39). God’s love is so wide – it covers the grid of our own experience and reaches to the whole world. God’s love is so long it will continue for your whole life, forever God’s love will be there. It is so high that it reaches to the height of all your celebrations and elations. It is so deep that it reaches to the depth of your discouragement and despair, and even into death. No matter what happened to you, no matter what you have done, nothing can separate you from the love of God.

Wisdom: To Be In The World And Not Of The World

A time to tear down and a time to build (Eccl. 3:3). There will be a time to build, not a time to rebuild. What has been taken down will not be brought back. A very important thing we need to understand because when something we are familiar with is taken away, we have a longing to bring it back or to just immediately fill the space with something else. God has inexhaustible creativity, there is no limit to how much God can create, build and continue to surprise us with. Even though we long for familiarity in times of change, it is important that we allow change, although painful, to part of our lives, to accept the change happening to us. It is so tempting to return to the things we know simply because there is so much comfort in routine and predictability. It is only with courage and wisdom that we learn to accept the changes happening around us.

As a man thinks in his heart, so is he (Prov. 23:7). What does that mean? Could it be referring to the “heart of the mind”? We are not talking about the physical organs such as the heart and brain in our body. It is something far bigger and deeper!

Hear The Voice Of Your Father

The apostle Paul had this to say about true fathering: “For if you were to have countless tutors (instructors=boy-leaders) in Christ, yet you would not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel” (1 Cor 4:15). The present loss of power and the current dilution and confusion in the wider church, is due to the fact that we do not discern between the voice of many instructors and that of true spiritual fathers.

The Journey Of Faith (When Good People Happen To Bad Things)

When it comes to faith and the faith journey, we all have our ups and downs. The downs are just as ok as the ups. I have always be deeply suspicious of people who portray the life of faith in a kind of triumphalist way; never a dark moment, never a doubt, never a fear, it is just not real. In fact whenever someone tells me that they have never had a moment of deeply probing religious doubt, I find myself wondering whether they have ever had a moment of vital religious conviction either. One fact stands above all else in the history of God’s people that the price of great faith is the continuous struggle to find it, to keep it and to share it, right there at the heart of the journey of God’s people. When you talk about faith some people picture it as quiet, undisturbed trust etched on a serene and shining face. They see amidst the world’s chaos this placid lake of shimmering water under the moon.

When God Roars Like A Lion

Israel would often chase their own desires and were notorious for abandoning God and running to the gods of the other nations. God loved Israel but Israel continuously messed up, made mistakes and ran away. In those times, God used to send a prophet to remind them that they had forgotten God and to bring them back to their roots. God gave Hosea a very specific assignment so that He could reveal a part of His nature and character. God is not unaffected by what we do and how we treat Him (Hos. 8:14a). God needed to speak to His people and to let them know how much He loved them. God asked Hosea to go and marry a prostitute (Hos. 1:2).

How Do You Perceive God? (The Unchangeable One)

God is dealing with us individually and corporately, but are we ready for the next level? Are you ready for God to take action? Can God deal with us as mature people? “I Am With You” – The Joseph Story

Although Christianity has done a lot of good in the initial phase of evangelism, unfortunately it has subconsciously created a sense of an outward expectancy. It made us believe that the answer to whatever our question may be is somewhere else, but not inside of us. We wait for somebody to come to save or liberate us. In South America there is a liberation theology movement where the expectancy is that God will come liberate everyone from financial, political and social situations.

What Is Really In My Heart?

God is busy dealing with us and will not let us off the hook. We want to finish strong. We often pray, “Lord grant me the desires of my heart.” When God looks at man and judges us, He looks at the heart. Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually (Gen. 6:5). God was sorry that He made man and repented (Gen. 6:6). He did not say that easily but when He looked at the heart of man He saw that something was gravely wrong. Throughout the Scriptures God looked at the heart of man as a barometer and a test to see where they are.

The Father’s Longing

I want to share with you a few thoughts about the Father’s heart. We need to awaken to the reality of God’s heart for us. Therefore the Lord longs to be gracious to you, And therefore He waits on high to have compassion on you. For the Lord is a God of justice; How blessed are all those who long for Him. O people in Zion, inhabitant in Jerusalem, you will weep no longer. He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry; when He hears it, He will answer you.

Eat Your Fruit

We have to concentrate on the proceeding Word. Let the proceeding word become our food. Let there always be spiritual food on the table, that which has nothing to do with finances or the economy. You have spiritual food. Impartation of the Word of God into the lives of people must change men and women. The man who has two tunics is to share with him who has none; and he who has food is to do likewise (Luke 3:11). For I long to see you so that I may impart some spiritual gift to you, that you may be established (Rom. 1:11). He was saying, “That I may give you one of my tunics”. That is only part of impartation. If you do not use the tunic, then impartation was in vain. We have the best teachings and there is impartation, but sometimes we do not put on the tunic that has been imparted, we hang it up. Use it, so that the impartation can bring us into maturity.

As He Is, So Are We In This World

When we understand who we are then it is easier for us to do what we need to do. Our doing comes out of who we are. If we cannot wait to stop doing what we are doing so that we can be ourselves, then there is a problem. Who you are needs to be reflected in what you are doing. Your doing is the outworking of who you are. We are going to talk about who we are and how an understanding of who we are propels us into the freedom to be who we are. Jesus said: “I am the light of the world” (John. 8:12), and then He said “you are the light of the World” (Matt. 4:15). Jesus said: “this is who I am and for you to see who I am, I need to help you understand who you are, because I am your Brother. You are co-heirs with Me to all Our Father has given us.”

How God Sees Us

The greatest privilege is the present-tense Presence; the I Am. It is the greatest promise of eternal God, the consciousness of His presence. Everything else becomes strangely dim in the light of this glory and grace. Even though man’s idea of God has changed so much, God’s idea has never changed; God’s mind is made up about man. It is an incredible solid assurance, conviction, security that He knows, and it is a privilege to come to the knowledge that He knows. We have been birthed through the incorruptible Logos (1 Pet. 1:23). He has given us the Spirit of His Son and we cry out “Abba Father” (Gal. 4:6). We are sons and co-heirs together with Christ (Rom. 8:17). Nothing that You have created can so express who You are than those who You made in Your image and likeness (Gen. 1:27).

The Thrust Towards Maturity

There is a concern from authentic spiritual fathers because of the immaturity of the people of God at large. When there are absent fathers in the natural, it can be destructive and disastrous for families. If there is a fatherless generation and children are growing up without biological fathers, they land up on the streets. The social and psychological problems are sometimes beyond repair. When you bring love back and a sense of fathering to them, there is a vast improvement. Spiritually speaking it is necessary to have fathers who are not absent. God has given this grace to the Church. I do not write these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet you would not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel (1 Cor. 4:14-15).

Women Of Courage

What I want to highlight today is the courage of a mother. You have to have courage to be a mother. When giving birth, it takes a lot of courage to give that last push. One of the best things you can teach your children is to teach them order, teach them neatness; teach them to tidy up after themselves. The home is a sacred place, the place where you live and therefore one teaches respect and to put your things away. It takes courage to say there is something more; we need to learn from the things our mothers have not accomplished.

Freedom And Responsibility

Freedom and responsibility seem to be two mutually exclusive ideas. Responsibility seems to be the absence of freedom, as it binds one to a task or duty of oversight. That may come in the form of nurturing, caring for, protecting or preserving something. Freedom is a word we associate with being without care or concern for anything or anyone. Actually these truths are irrevocably linked to one another. Many of us know and have experienced the gradual progression of freedom in our coming of age, and we were allowed to make decisions without having to consult our parents, teachers, pastors etc. In the same way, as we boldly go forth making decisions, we are expected to calculate the repercussions of our decisions. We are therefore held responsible for the outcome of our decisions. It is expected of us to be considerate, not only of ourselves but also those whom our decisions will affect. So as you get older, you are allowed to make bigger and bolder decisions, but you are also expected to work out what those decisions mean for everybody around you.

Jesus – In Heaven On Earth

Before she travailed, she brought forth; before her pain came, she gave birth to a boy (meaning a male). Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Can a land be born in one day? Can a nation be brought forth all at once? As soon as Zion travailed, she also brought forth her sons. “Shall I bring to the point of birth and not give delivery?” says the Lord. “Or shall I who gives delivery shut the womb?” says your God(Isa. 66:7-9). The answer is NO, He will give delivery.

Complete Sacrifice – Giving The First

The people were trampling one another to hear Jesus. Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me” (Luke 12:13). Jesus’ response was somewhat insensitive, but this question shows what was in the man’s heart even after hearing all Jesus’ sayings. The parable continues with a story of a man who did things only for himself. He said to another man, “Follow me.” But he replied, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.” Jesus said to him, “Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God” (Luke 9:59-60). A strange response! He needed to consecrate his life to the Lord, live a life of denial, separated unto the Lord.

Being An Imitator Of Christ

The conviction of our heart is that Jesus has overcome. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world (John 16:33). So many people try to take the risk out of life. We want to know where we are going. We want to ensure a good result at the end of our choices. The unfortunate truth is that we can never strip life of its mysterious qualities. Unpredictable things are going to happen but that is what our faith is about; walking true and walking faithfully before our God in a world that does not even recognize that He exists. That is part of our humanity; that is who we are. We are not to wish away our humanity for this is exactly what God came to save.

Inspired By Grace

How do we help the Church to grow into its stature? Love is costly. God so loved the world that He gave His Son; it cost Him. God does not want us to grow apart from Him; it does not mean He wants to keep us immature, but connected to the Source. He is committed to you through thick and through thin. We are connected through blood. Crucifixion was the worst torture instrument you could have.

Growing Into Wisdom And Stature

And Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men (Luke 2:52). We find in Jesus this example that we can reach. As the body of Christ we need to reach the stature of the whole man. This speaks about process. It is not an issue of falling, it is not a jump; it is a process. If you want to reach the deepest waters you have to go through a process (Ezek. 47:1-6). We understand from the natural body that everything that lives will grow up. Growing is part of our nature. The Greek meaning is to push and advance, to propel ourselves. It is difficult to grow up because the cost of our clothing, shoes, and food changes. Growing has its costs.

From Many Comes One

What I will share this morning will come as a reminder. Peter was concerned about the short-sightedness of individuals. Everything that goes into a life of pleasing God has been miraculously given to us by getting to know, personally and intimately, the One who invited us to God. The best invitation we ever received! We were also given absolutely terrific promises to pass on to you—your tickets to participation in the life of God after you turned your back on a world corrupted by lust. So don’t lose a minute in building on what you’ve been given… (2 Pet. 1:3-9).

Dominion – Where Do We Start? (The Need For God Encounters)

Kingdom dominion is not political or earthly power; it is something in the spirit, unlike the kingdoms of this world. The kingdoms of this world are becoming the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ. Where does it begin in my life and your life? The seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” And He said to them, “I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning. Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are recorded in heaven” (Luke 10:17-20).

Rediscovering The First Commission To Man

We are looking at what went wrong with the first commission given to Adam and Eve. God’s ultimate plan, which has not changed, is to demonstrate His manifold wisdom to principalities and powers in heavenly places through the Church (Eph. 3:10). If you are looking for the demonstration of kingdom dominion in the earth (Gen. 1:28) you will only find it where a true Church is functioning (Matt. 16:18-19). God said, “Replenish and have dominion…”. When Adam and Eve fell, satan usurped it.

We as Christians have the greatest edge on love, when we think of what God did, He sent His Son to rescue us, to lavish His love upon us. As we come into a relationship with Jesus Christ we can participate in the absolute fullness of God’s love. It is the foundation, the philosophy and the deepest truth that we as Christians believe in and want to live out. The foundation of our core belief system is love and acceptance. When we interact with the world that is what we are imparting, not the knowledge about love, but the heart of love

Keys To Healthy Spiritual Growth

The church is in an ongoing reforming process which means every now and then we have to review where we are to see what is working and what is not working. Are we connecting to the community? Are being the salt and the light? It is nice to have church buildings and nice programs, wonderful attendances and conferences - but frankly that is not the church. That is part of what churches do today and hopefully in some of those events we do connect with the community and spread the light, but I am coming from my own conviction now that we need and can expect changes.

I Will Be Found By You

There are a lot of transitions happening but the greatest thing about transition is the feeling of support from the family. The transition will go nowhere without us being connected to one another. Seasons have changed within the church and there is no doubt in my mind that we have only cracked the surface of what God wants to do in this amazing community. He wants to blow our minds and I am committed to that journey. The famous German reformer, Martin Luther said, “The Church is always to be reformed”.

Enjoy Unbroken Fellowship With The Holy Spirit

This word has the potential to further equip all of us in the finer detail of having a walk with God. Thus says the Lord, “Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool. Where then is a house you could build for Me? And where is a place that I may rest? For My hand made all these things, Thus all these things came into being,” declares the Lord. “But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word (Isa. 66:1-2). Does it sound possible that the Creator is looking for a place to stay? Becoming a home for Him is what it is all about.

Blessed Are You – The Peacemaker!

For many years now, this household has heard the message about the “finished works” of Jesus, taken from the last words of Jesus on the cross “It is finished!” (John. 19:30). Over the centuries the church in general, has grappled with what it means. What is finished, what is not finished?

Service As A Form Of Worship

We can develop a Christianity which is “nice” and we show kindness in the workplace and everyday life, but is that all there is to Christianity? Is it the maximum we can do once we have decided to be renewed in the grace of God? I am convinced more is required of us. If you consider yourself a new creation you are no longer driven by a thirst for success and materialism or even a happy and good life, but you are compelled to see all men reconciled to the God of heaven.

Rest In The Day Of Trouble (Is Your Soul At Rest?)

I want to talk about the day of trouble as Habbakuk the prophet sees from a kingdom perspective. He sees a day of trouble, but in the day of trouble he sees a day of rest. When I heard, my body trembled; My lips quivered at the voice; Rottenness entered my bones; And I trembled in myself, That I might rest in the day of trouble. When he comes up to the people, He will invade them with his troops (Hab. 3:16). He is going to invade the nations with His troops. Habbakuk receives a prophetic vision from God that Judah will be taken captive by the Chaldeans.

Living An Authentic Kingdom Life

In order to be authentic salt, light, and authentic kingdom leaven in society in our times, we need to remove the word “Christian” as an adjective which we often use in our efforts to influence society. First of all, we need to make sure about our foundations as authentic Christians. We need a revelation of the finished works of Jesus, the once for all sacrifice and what it means. Humanity was guilty of sin by the fall of Adam but we have been reconciled to God through Christ.

How Easily Are You Offended? (Kingdom Influence)

Let’s take a look at the character that should be in every kingdom citizen. We are to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world. This is more than just going to church on a Sunday, more than quoting a verse or two; it is about that which you radiate from within. The world is looking at that rather than what is coming out of our mouth. We have all been in circumstances that tested us and our reactions. How do we react under testing situations?

Judgement – By The Standard Of A Man

For it is time for judgement to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the Gospel of God? (1 Peter 4:17). This is quite a confronting Scripture. Where does the Lord begin with His judgement? In the household, in the Church! Yes, that is where He starts! Judgement is not quite what we grew up to believe.

God’s Dealings – His Righteous Judgements

We need to submit to the dealings of God in our lives, otherwise there can be no growth, newness cannot come in our lives and we are not able to upgrade. If we do not upgrade, we stagnate, then life cannot flow. If we speak of His righteous judgement in our lives, we immediately think of the negative. Even if there is overwhelming evidence that we are not guilty, there is still anxiety because we do not know what the judgement is going to be. In the judgement we are victorious because God has made known to us His acts (Rev. 15:1-4).

Church: The Centre Of Society

We live in the confidence and assurance of this verse; that no matter what happens, the kingdom of God is always on the increase. Our God is above all things, yet chooses to be intimately engrafted in both the trivial and the significant moments of our lives. It is a constant realm of Lordship that rules in our hearts, minds, and spirits; giving shape to us as an individual part of a community built across history. Unless we are submitted to the leading of the Spirit, we cannot engage, interact with or see this Kingdom.

How God Is Shaping Our Lives

More and more people are enquiring about God. Who is He and how does He work? There are people who are not technically Christians – they are in other religions – and yet what drives them is a quest and search for God. We have to realize this: God is what humanity needs. We have been created by God and because of that fundamental truth, the thirst, the hunger, and the drive for God is stronger than the sex drive, the drive for power, popularity or wealth.

God In The Daily Routines Of Your Life

I was always taught that there is nothing really original; there is nothing new under the sun (Eccl. 1:9). We have tasted of the powers of the age to come and we are experiencing something of the wonderfulness of God and being involved in His eternal purpose. The future is actually clearly written in the past. God’s original intention is what it is all about. He owns the world, the throne is His. His intention is original and He will not be taken off His course, the purposes of God will be fulfilled. God is busy building the original and it is in you and in me. He has always purposed to shape us, to make us, to mold us so that Jesus Christ is fleshed out in you and me. In our togetherness it is the most profound expression of it.

Sent Into The World By The Great “I Am”

What do you mean when you conclude your prayers with “in Jesus name”? Has it become just another Christian habit? Let’s look for a deeper understanding, respect and appreciation for the NAME above every other name – what it stands for and what it means. Jesus asked His disciples, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” And Jesus said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Barjona, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but My Father who is in heaven. I also say to you that you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build My church."

Our Adoption As Sons (Learning Obedience From The Things We Suffer)

Let us look at (and submit to) a very important function of the Holy Spirit – the Spirit of adoption. So often we experience inner adjustments and an enlarging for more of God. This stretching is not without pain and sometimes leaves us with questions. This is where we should not blame the devil. If we do not experience the continuous enlarging and stretching on the inside, there is the risk of stagnation. The Holy Spirit is bringing us to the place where every decision we make is led by the Spirit of God. The sons of God are those who are led by the Spirit of God (Rom. 8:14). The voice is no longer behind you, it is in you.

Stop Staring Into The Empty Sky

The early apostles envisioned the return of the Lord in their own lifetime. What was the basis for their expectation? The answer is simple; the very words of Jesus and the repeated emphasis on the need for watchfulness. Jesus Himself emphasized the need for vigilance in the anticipation of His return. The early apostles were not wrong to anticipate the “day of the Lord”. The day of the Lord is always at hand; His return is always imminent - as it was for the apostles, so it is for us today.

When The Holy Spirit Comes Upon You

God is always adding more insight as the seasons progress. One such area is about the Holy Spirit. The terminology “baptized by or of the Holy Spirit” is usually associated with the born again experience. We cannot be born again without the Holy Spirit (John 3:5-8). The terminology changes when it is an experience after being born again, when it is referred to as being baptized “in” or with” the Holy Spirit, and in many cases there is the evidence of the speaking in tongues.

The True Evidence Of The Holy Spirit (Is The Holy Spirit Welcome In Our Lives?)

What do we experience sitting under the word Sunday after Sunday? Does the Holy Spirit feature or do we just collect principles and knowledge? Are we allowing the Holy Spirit entrance? The entrance of His word gives light (Ps. 119:130). It goes beyond receiving it only mentally. Without the Holy Spirit, anything else you might present as evidence to the world, will be meaningless. The Holy Spirit was never meant to be locked into a movement, specific group or church meetings.

A Faith Perspective Changes Everything

We are God’s heavenly family on earth, which means we become part of something eternal the moment we accept God’s love for us and the sacrifice Jesus made for us on the cross. Our faith brought us into sonship. The faith choice that we made not only links us to God but also to every believer who is on the earth. We are united together in faith. This gives us an image of the global Church. It is the family of God on the earth, ready to demonstrate how wonderful and amazing our God is.

Much has been said from this pulpit about living in the now, living in the present; do not live in the past or the future. Do not worry about tomorrow or yesterday (Matt. 6:25-34). Unshakable Trust (The Danger Of Withdrawal)

When you are challenged in your Christian journey to a point of wanting to withdraw, or to take a detour or even want to get off the train – think again! How Does Faith Come?

And all these, having gained approval through their faith, did not receive what was promised, because God hadprovided something better for us, so that apart from us they would not be made perfect (Heb. 11:39-40). There is a finishing generation in the earth of which we are a part. We must continue to run the race in faith. Whether we are going to be the last generation before the end of history as we know it, we do not know. Our continuing in the faith helps to perfect to those who died in the faith without receiving what was promised.

Forgiveness – A Heavenly Culture

As we continue to sit under the word, we need to recognise our responsibility to ‘Train ourselves in godliness’ (1 Timothy 4:7). An integral part of that process is the renewing of our minds spoken of in Romans 12:2, which comes through a process of reflection on the Word of God. Genesis 1-3 introduces us to the awesome creative power of God, who subsequently assigned the Spirit to hover over His creation

A Generation Following The Ways Of Their Fathers

God builds generationally; God builds from father to son. God deposits a certain grace, a certain DNA and that is what He wants transmitted from one generation to another. When God starts a move in a grace carrier, he pioneers and moves forward by the Spirit of God and God wants to impart that to sons to continue what He is saying. There needs to be a double portion, a higher level but we always see a situation where it comes to a complete halt. Why is it that God always has to start again with another generation?

Heaven On Earth

“Corpus” means body, it has to do with many members but one body and the way they relate and function together. This will help us understand God’s manifest presence. God is omnipresent, He is everywhere; He fills every space on earth and in the universe. But the fact that He is omnipresent does not make Him objective and far away, cold and non-relational. In the Old Testament God’s presence was always associated with the Temple. Even in modern times, many people still feel that way about physical church buildings.

Where Is The Omnipresent God Actually?

Sometimes it takes the questions asked by little children, to challenge us, such as: “Why do you pray to God in heaven? Where is heaven? Where is God now? Where does he live? Where is God’s home?” These questions and similar ones can make us go and do some more research and confront us in your understanding and experience of God. There are statements made from pulpits such as “Let us all come into the presence of God”; “Let us ask the Lord to come near”

Prayer – An Attitude Of Heart

Prayer is an attitude of heart. When the Scriptures talk about praying without ceasing it means being in communion with God at all times. Observing our busy lives we wonder how we can fulfil this Scripture. The main thing is our relationship with God, and how much we communicate with Him. We are born with a natural desire to communicate with out Creator. It is a quest and a seeking that one comes to at certain times and seasons in our lives, there something more than living our lives day by day, doing the same old thing. There is something more, a lot more; we would hate to feel that this is all there is to it; our worship, our prayer life, our quest for our Creator! Our prayer life is the foundation of who we are as Christians; it is the life that we live. “God I am asking, I am knocking, I am seeking. What are the answers? Why don’t you answer my prayers? Why are people still hurting? Why are people still dying and there is still so much pain?”

Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them (Gen. 1:26-27). The Migration Of Abraham To A New Priestly Order

This morning I want to speak about God’s desire for a kingdom of priests. “Now, behold, I have taken the Levites from among the sons of Israel instead of every firstborn, the first issue of the womb among the sons of Israel. So the Levites shall be Mine (Num. 3:12). This speaks of a priesthood that is God’s own possession. God has given the Levites from Aaron and his sons, to minister as priests before the Lord. But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; (1 Pet. 2:9). I want to speak this morning of a new priesthood that was God’s original intention.

Moderate Culture or Kingdom Culture?

C. S. Lewis said, “Christianity if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is of moderate importance”. Do you agree with this? If, yes, then do you as individual live this way? Only you can answer this question truthfully. There are two potential cultures that emerge in the Church, since there are obviously none in the Church that believe Christianity is of no importance. The first is one of moderate culture and one of kingdom culture; those who see Christianity as moderately important, and the second is those who see it as infinitely important.

Where Are You?

When I heard the word on transition, I felt the Holy Spirit asking me, "Where are you?" If you do not know where you are, you will not get to where you want to go. We need to know where we are, but also who we are in Christ, individually and corporately. How far have we walked with and in this word of the kingdom that is coming to this household? Has it become a part of our lives? Does it influence our work situation? Does it affect our friendships and our home and family?

Accelerating The Transition Process (Citizens Of Heaven Colonizing Earth)

Jesus says “You shall know the truth and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). There is a requirement, “you shall know the truth and it will set you free”. Is the Word working for you? Or are you just looking for another revelation? This is the big danger we have in this season: God is taking the seals off the Book, new insights are coming all the time, apostolic graces are operating in many countries of the world and the danger is that we just collect principles and concepts that are new. The challenge is for us to allow the Word to transform our lives. We will all be tested on the Word we receive.

Transition: Look, Discern, Position

There are three key actions that will facilitate a successful transition: Look, Discern, and Position. The Lord gave me a key phrase regarding the Bizweni ministry – “Look what the Lord has done!” and this will be our point of departure to consider some transition principles. With this we do not disregard the efforts and sacrifices of God’s people through whom this work was established, we simply recognize that it could not happen without the Lord’s sovereign empowerment, grace and guidance.

Water For The Exodus

Transitions take up the majority of your life; we are always transitioning from one place to another. A transition can be from being saved to being in the kingdom; from immature to mature. Transitions are a very important part of how we go from the start to the end. How do we define a transition? Where does it end? Where did it start? It feels like it is moving along at a very steady but slow pace. When the Israelites transitioned from Egypt it took them forty years! So we are not doing too badly but I do feel we have reached an apex in our transition. Our pilgrimage has reached a point where we are offered the best perspective we have ever had. This does not mean we have reached the end of our journey.

The mindset that is prevalent in the Western world is about making a living; what shall we eat, how shall we dress, where shall we live. Sonship In The Kingdom – Our Function

Your embassy will protect you if times of trouble arise when you are in a foreign nation. They represent your nation in a foreign country. Jesus was sent from the Father to this earth with a tremendous mission and mandate upon Him. It was to represent the Father, the government that sent Him and to reflect and glorify the Father. Though He had the privilege to call on legions of angels anytime; to call for supernatural invasions, He chose not to. We as believers are called to represent Jesus on this earth, the Firstborn, the pattern Son. We are given a mandate to be His ambassadors. Whenever a church loses that vision, it goes into all sorts of other activities, programs and loses its real focus.

The Presence Of Grace / Grace: Give As Good As You Get

We must remain adaptable and answerable to God and listen to His voice and His Spirit that is leading us into new places. We are being challenged on some of our habits, but some habits and traditions will always remain, and one of those is preaching the Word of God. We do it to edify the Body; through the public reading of Scripture we exalt our God by remembering His goodness over generations and generations. These were genuine “seasons of refreshing”; times of “rain from heaven”.

Being Sons Of Light

Long before people look at your face, they feel what is in your spirit; they feel what kind of energy you carry, positive or negative. The spiritual man in us should be charged by God and His word, not by circumstances. What is the first thought that enters your mind when you receive bad news? Why do we mostly expect the worst instead of trusting God? Since we live in a world filled with bad news, we need to know how to handle bad news and still reflect the goodness of God.

Are You Governed By The Law Or By Grace? (Freely You’ve Received, Freely Give)

Weakness is our introduction to the grace of God (2 Cor. 12:10). When I am weak, then I am strong, because it is no longer my strength but the grace of God that enables and empowers me to do what I could not do because of my weakness. You cannot do anything to earn grace. God’s grace has been given to us freely, and this leaves us with a challenge: freely we have received, now freely give (Matt. 10:8).

Grace: When I Am Weak, Then I Am Strong!

O taste and see that the Lord is good (Ps. 34:8). There is something hidden in that statement. Taste and then see. When you taste something, you will get the vision. If we major only on the vision and the people do not taste, then they are not going to see. It is not just about the vision, but about the people having tasted it and connecting with it.

The Ethics Of Making A Good Decision

Most disagreement amongst Christians is in the area of ethics. There are so many opinions. Let us look at the ethics of making a good choice. “Ethics” are the moral principles that govern a person or group’s behaviour; how you discern between good and bad. We inherit our moral vision mainly from our families and communities, but we need to be flexible and open minded when we come to the topic of ethics. We need to have ears to hear what the Spirit is saying.

We Are A Blessed Word Of God

Bizweni, perform your sonship; everything starts with obedience. Obedience comes before faith. Faith comes after you say, “Yes Lord!” Then God comes and will honour your obedience. You do not give to get back but you give because of obedience. We know He will supply all our needs. If God blesses something, He invokes Himself in what He blesses and it starts to multiply. He speaks to Himself, He calls upon Himself in such things that He blesses, and out of that things start to multiply. When I pray for or bless someone, I speak to the Christ in that man or in that situation.

Prayer – Encountering God (He Is Always Alongside)

The Bible talks about different kinds of prayer: the intercessory prayer, the travailing prayer, the petitioning prayer etc. God is adjusting the whole issue of waiting on the Lord and prayer so that we can become more effective in partnering with Him. We must stop merely praying for something; our prayers must now shift to praying for the manifestation of the PERSON.

What Kind Of Prayers Move God?

We ask and do not receive because we pray with the wrong motives. God’s silence is often an answer in itself. We need to wait on God and align ourselves to His will until we can pray God’s thoughts back to Him. We have this confidence that if we pray according to His will, He hears our prayers.

God Is Love (As He Is, So Are We In This World!)

When Moses was at the burning bush where he met God in a very spectacular way, God commissioned him and Moses asked, “Who should I say sent me?” God said, “Tell them ‘I Am’ sent you” (Ex. 3:13-14). Did you ever ask why He said that? Maybe we will get closer to the answer if we listen to this word.

Change Your Mentality From An Itinerant To A Possessor

The Word comes regularly, but if that Word does not become alive to you, it remains words on a page, it remains the Logos. We ourselves need to engage with the Word and the Word has to come alive to us and take us through difficult times. We are in a transition and sometimes we do not know where we are, but we are pressing towards the mandate that is given to us.

Embracing A Kingdom Mentality (Becoming Like A Child)

We have to experience the continually unfolding understanding of the kingdom of God: repent and believe the gospel, change the way you think about the kingdom. The kingdom of God has nothing to do with a specific date in the future; it does not come with signs to be observed; it is in you. The kingdom of God has come in and with Jesus two thousand years ago. To experience it we must become like a child.

Conquering The Land Of Promise

The experiences of the children of Israel crossing the Jordan into the land of Promise, contain valuable keys for the believer who is serious about possessing the kingdom of God. If we are going to possess the kingdom we will experience similar challenges to what the sons of Israel faced as they took possession of the land given to them by God.

Witnesses – First In Our Own ‘Jerusalem’

What non-Christians want to see in us is what we have experienced. What we have experienced will become visible to others. What will have an impact in this Western world is what is flowing out of us; our attitude, our smile, the tone of our voice. What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life-- and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us--what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete (1 John 1:1-4).

Kingdom Economics – A System Of Honour

As there is an order to your body, so is there an order to the cosmos, to the heavens and how all things are ruled, and everything produces after its own kind. Everything in God’s creation has an order and a science to it. There’s not only an order to worship in the temple, there is not only the order of word and of government in Scripture; there is also the order of economics. Everything has advanced from the times of old until now through the generations, except in the Church.

God Is Dealing With You As With Sons (The Sons Of The Kingdom Will Leaven Society)

It is no longer a secret – things are shaking in all levels of society worldwide. Even in the Church of God things are shaking. This should not surprise us any longer. The writer of Hebrews reminds us that we “...have not come to a mountain that can be touched and to a blazing fire, and to darkness and gloom and whirlwind, and to the blast of a trumpet and the sound of words which sound was such that those who heard begged that no further word be spoken to them.

The Garments, Position And Anointing Of Sonship / Christ The Transformer Of Culture

The order of father and son is not simply one theme among many; it is the foundational principle for all spiritual understanding in the Kingdom. Many people in Church are born into the Kingdom without any spiritual father and live as orphans lacking heritage and searching for identity. The order of father to son has been lost in many churches today. This order is the basis of spiritual inheritance and the basis of the generational blessing.

The Holy Spirit And The Kingdom Of God (Becoming A Temple Of God)

Studies of the life of David show many kingdom principles as well as keys to earthy spirituality. David with all his humanness was loved of God. Jesus was called, “the son of David” (Matt. 1:1). All that which is not of His kingdom will be shaken and torched out so that only the unshakeable kingdom remains (Heb. 12:22-29). I would rather not build in a hurry than have something which seems successful only to fall apart when the shaking comes. Only that which is built with gold, silver and precious stones, will stand in the fire of a consuming God.

Activating Kingdom Principles In Our Finances

The book of Haggai is dealing with the restoration of the Temple – not a Temple built with bricks and stone, but a Temple not built with human hands – the Temple which God is building in which you and I are living stones. Then the Lord goes on to say: “I will shake all the nations; and they will come with the wealth of all nations, and I will fill this house with glory…The silver is Mine and the gold is Mine…The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former,…and in this place I will give peace.” (Hag 2:7-9)

God’s Creation Principle (Activating Divine Principles In Our Finances)

There are statutes and principles God has set in motion with creation. All creation is governed by these divinely instituted principles. The Psalmist saw this. You have ordained Your precepts, That we should keep them diligently. Oh that my ways may be established To keep Your statutes! Then I shall not be ashamed when I look upon all Your commandments (Ps. 119:4-6). Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven. Your faithfulness continues throughout all generations; You established the earth, and it stands. They stand this day according to Your ordinances, For all things are Your servants (Ps. 119:89-91).

Lessons From The Wilderness (Dealing With Anger And Retaliation)

We are moving away from all the religious ideas we had of what spirituality means. The story of David and Goliath highlights the difference between the religious and the spiritual approach – even in warfare. There are two mind-sets; that of religion and that of the spiritual man. Saul brought the heavy armour to protect him from the giant. David tried it on and realized it was not going to work, so he took it off. He went to the stream and picked five smooth stones and he used a little sling shot to kill that Nephilim giant Goliath.

Remove Those Fig Leaves (The Problem Of Religion In Relationships)

The Kingdom of God expresses itself through relationships; it is not some lofty thing leaving most of God’s people uninformed and disconnected. Relationships are critically important if you are part of the Body of Christ. The Body of Christ should learn to function in the same way the physical body does; not as isolated individuals, institutions or organisations. Until this happens we are going to experience delays in reaching the full potential.

Covenantal Friendships

Saul initially liked David, but because of David’s popularity, he became jealous and wanted to kill David several times. Saul’s own son Jonathan found a connection with David that was very unique. This covenantal friendship went through unbelievable tests. Jonathan realized that his father hated David. Jonathan had to respect Saul but his heart and soul was connected to David. Jonathan had to protect David from his own father.

The Excellence Of Love

I’m going to touch on 3 words today, identity, relationship and community. Starting with identity, do we know who we are in Christ? Not who we are in ourselves, but in Christ because we do not boast in/of ourselves. We have no right to do that, but Christ is in us. Through whom also we have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand; and we exult in hope of the glory of God (Rom 5:2). The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him (Rom 8:16-17).

Are Church Members Always Naturally Compatible?

Currently, there are many households or local churches across the earth, who sense that God is saying, “Move on from the old church model and become a kingdom community; from the old church culture into Kingdom culture.” When we say kingdom culture, we include in the definition government and rule, but it starts with a healthy family, where each member is important and each member is functioning. We need to move away from a definition of church being a “nice” group of people as some of it is unreal.

Towards Complete Spiritual Health (Spiritual Lessons From Our Physical Body)

We are called to be a house of healing. We have to take this seriously and position ourselves in such a way that this Word can fully flesh out. The apostle Paul compares the Church to a physical human body. To a large degree, we are the engineers of our health. The way we live in our early years will show later in life, in our physical body. God created us with every organ and its function in the body. God gave us a physical body and He wants to demonstrate something through it. In the Old Testament God told his people that if they live according to His statutes and principles, no disease would be found in their midst (Ex. 15:26), without the help of medicine.

Heaven’s Peace – Earth’s Revolt

Some have the understanding that the connection between the physical and the spiritual is only at death. The Scriptural language that heaven is ‘above’ could have only come after the fall. The heavens and the earth were created in one spoken word. Adam was strolling through the garden with God, spiritual and physical were the dwelt together. After the fall we understand there was a spiritual death and it caused a break in the relationship.

Our Participation In The Gospel

When He had said these things, He cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth.” The man who had died came forth, bound hand and foot with wrappings, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go” (John 11:43-44). Jesus being the Son of God could have made the grave clothes fall off and disappear but He did not, He wanted to demonstrate a principle.

Crossing Over Into Our Land Of Promise

We’ve grown up with a certain concept of prayer. We may have moved on but still need a mind shift about prayer. God will hear the sincere prayers of anyone in any posture, but a lot of that posturing was just a religious exercise. You and I must become prayer expressed; we must become a walking prayer. The best definition of prayer is to engage the Spirit of God, and that you can do without ceasing. Wherever you are your spirit can be connected to God and prayer then becomes a two way street.

The Circumcised Ear

The enemy will always try to discredit anything that God brings, or manufacture something that looks like the real thing, but it is not. Let us look at two aspects of fathering. In the Old Testament fathers physically circumcised their sons. We talk about the Old Testament being types and shadows but already here we find pointers to the real significance of circumcision. Now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require from you ….keep the Lord’s commandments and His statutes which I am commanding you today …. So circumcise your heart, and stiffen your neck no longer

What Does The World Experience From You?

Do you know that people in the world read you? We are living epistles, read and known by all men (2 Cor. 3:2). Before you even open your mouth, people look at how you react when there is a problem. Can you show a different attitude? Do you radiate a different kind of energy? Can people sense an anointing on your life before you even open your mouth? That is what people respond to. If Christians do not live the real Christian life, people will have a problem finding God. They will be put off from going to Church by the lack of positive testimony that we radiate.

As It Was In The Days Of Lot (When Satan Contaminates The Royal Seed Line)

In the Old Testament we have seen several examples where angels have materialized. In the New Testament they are described as ministering spirits. Every authentic church that has been planted by God and by His direction has an angel (Rev. 2:1,8,18). The book of Revelation is full of angelic participation in the last chapters of human history, just before the great apocalypse, the unveiling of Jesus Christ as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Be In Active Dialogue With Surrounding Culture

In recent years there’s been a shift away from institutional religion, from the way we come to church, the way we commit ourselves to a denomination, our allegiance pledged to the name of a church rather than to God. It’s moved towards something of a journey. People want a journey of self-experience. People are trying to build a framework for themselves through which they can interpret life’s every day events, and find meaning in it.

As It Was In The Days Of Daniel (A Humble And Contrite Spirit)

Angels are ministering spirits who come alongside those who are heirs of salvation (Heb. 1:7, 14). The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him (Ps. 34:7). Fear in that verse means, reverence, respect, bowing down, worship. There is something the Lord wants to highlight in this regard. What God is looking for is a quality of spirit that the Lord calls a contrite spirit and a broken heart. Humility of spirit attracts ministering spirits. Arrogance has a way of chasing them away.

The good news is that not all angels fell; only a third were swept to the earth (Rev 12:1-4). Two thirds are still fulfilling the function that is highlighted in Heb. 1:7-8, 13-14.

I saw the waters knee deep but the Lord wants to bring us waters to swim in, waters that will take us off our feet, where we will float and lose our own control; where we lose our ability to keep things in our order. His Part Is Finished, Now It Is Our Part

Several places in the Scripture there are clear indications that from God’s side He has completed His work in and through Christ. God is in rest, and Jesus is seated at His right hand, waiting till His enemies have been made a footstool under His feet (Heb 10:12-14)

Working In His Rest (Work Out Your Salvation)

In this life, with its pace and pressures, it is very difficult to sit at the feet of God in silence, getting your thoughts out of the way and presenting yourself before Him. Waiting on the Lord, getting into His presence, can only bring rest. The Sabbath day is a relationship between God and us. The Sabbath day has nothing to do with a day on the calendar.

God’s Sabbath Rest – A Sign Between God And Those Separated Unto Him

When the Bible refers to a day it refers to a period of time and that period, especially when we talk about the Sabbath day, has nothing to do with a 24 hour day on the calendar. The word “day” in the Hebrew has been translated 1181 different ways (including, off course, where it does refer literally to a 24-hour day) into English in some Bible translations. There are many examples in Scripture where a “day” actually refers to a period of time. For example the “day” of temptation in the wilderness actually refers to a period of 40 years!

It is sad to see that the Church does not often upgrade its “operational systems”. For example, in the Old Testament one of the first operational systems was the rod of Moses. After that followed the cloud and the fire by night, which could also be seen as operational systems ie. that which conveyed, communicated or signified the next step. Then something changed.

Becoming “Christ In Me” Conscious

You can miss the essence of the life in Christ and Christ in us especially if you come out of a background where everything was seen to be sinful. We miss the plan God has for us because we fight sin and we fight the devil, and we never come to the knowledge of the divine plan that God Himself developed for us.

God Accepted You, Now Accept Yourself!

Transformation only takes place when the Word penetrates our inner spirit-man. When God looks at us, He only sees us through the finished works of His Son. So when I make a mistake, miss the mark or do something that really grieves God, does He suddenly stop loving me? No. God’s love is unconditional; it is not based on what you or I do. We can never earn God’s love. Whatever you do, God’s love never changes. God’s love is instant; otherwise there would be something wrong with the finished works. Repentance means to change the way I think. When my thinking has changed about who I really am, I will bear the fruit of repentance. He who continues willfully to sin once he has received the knowledge of the truth, is playing with fire. That means you have not come to the place where it has changed your mind and your activity and lifestyle. Before that changes God has already forgiven you.

The Ego-Me Died With Christ

The corporate body will function so much better if every individual is fully unwrapped. The “authentic you” is actually talking about the original (genuine) you. God originally created man in His image and in His likeness (Gen.1: 26-27). That’s our origin; our genesis. Everything that has been laid on us over the years, centuries and millennia, which is not of God, has to come off in order to find the true you or to find the “I am”. Authenticity is not what other people think about you; it is who God knows you are.

Authenticity In Relationships (Generosity Begets Generosity)

The quest of finding the one and only living God, is reaching new heights across the world. More and more books are being published containing different speculations. People are asking questions about the reality and whereabouts of God. Can the true Church manifest the real answer? What seems to be a priority at this junction, is for man to go back to his own genesis or beginning – having been created in the image and likeness of God. And in order to do this accurately, even we as believers have to throw off all false identities and layers that have been put onto us by others. Each one of us has to become authentic – who I AM! As a man thinks in his heart, so is he! (Prov 23:7).

Poor in spirit? No baggage! No false identities! …Finding the real I am.

The renewal of the mind is not just learning new concepts or principles, or changing terminology. Paul says in Eph. 4:23, “Be renewed in the spirit of your mind.” The brain is where there are a hundred billion connections between cells (synapsis). It is here where mindsets are formed, and when that happens, it blocks you from receiving new insight. Paul suggested a way to deal with such mindsets. We aredestroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Cor. 10:5). It comes by impartation, sometimes by repeated impartation.

Dealing With The War In The Mind

When the apostle Paul said, “Be renewed in the spirit of your minds” (Ephes 4:23), he touched a fundamental principle that needs a lot more attention in the times we live. The spirit of the mind has more to do with our sub-conscious mind. How often does the average Christian switch off the TV, the radio, the phone and just get in touch with his/her inner person?

Manifesting His Name On Earth

There is an operational system (mindset) behind the activity of every human government or organization on earth. This is also true for churches. For most churches it is about soul winning or church growth. While that is important, what should the primary objective be? What was the driving force behind the ministry of Jesus? Jesus did not come only to preach, He came to manifest the name of His Father. “I have manifested Your name to the men whom You gave Me out of the world” (John 17:6). We have to be faithful to the mandate God has given us. “As the Father sent Me, so send I you…”

The Apostolic Mandate – Seeing And Ruling From Heaven

Since the First Reformation about 500 years ago, the Church has come through various seasons. One of the areas which experienced constant change, was the way in which the Church engaged with the secular world, ie. how to communicate the gospel to the non-Christian. Over the last few decades or more, it has become clear that a new Reformation was needed. And although a true Reformation affects a much wider area, attention has gradually shifted to see why the Church is no longer the salt of the earth and light to the world. What we find world-wide is that there’s a quietness on the Church scene. There is no new thing, or even a revival. Some try to re-activate old revivals and things that used to work.
