Sonship Revealed In Us And Conferred On Us

Our heart’s desire is that what is planted will come to fruition and that the Word will become flesh again and we will impact our sphere of influence. We know that the stature of Christ grows until we come to mature man. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time (this present life) are not worth being compared with the glory that is about to be revealed to us and in us and for us and conferred on us! (Rom. 8:18-Amp). This is sonship! The kingdom belongs to true sons, it is our heritage. The alignment with the word of the kingdom will bring about this mature incarnation. At a critical moment you will have the unveiling. But at the critical point of fruit-bearing you will find there is something similar to wheat that comes up in the field (Matt. 13:24-26). The enemy comes unnoticed and only at the bearing of what it was created for, the difference becomes apparent.

The Apostolic Grace Of Sonship (A True Apostolic Church)

No single person carries the keys of the Kingdom by himself or herself; the keys will be given to a Church built upon the (corporate) Rock. The kingdom of God is related to the principle of sonship. If we can understand the depth of the meaning of sonship it will change our lives and it will become our main desire. True Christianity is all about sonship.

A Church With The Keys Of The Kingdom (A True Apostolic Church)

Where the gospel of the kingdom is accurately proclaimed, God has promised to back it up with demonstration. I do not write these things to shame you, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For if you were to have countless tutors in Christ, yet you would not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel. Therefore I exhort you, be imitators of me. For this reason I have sent to you Timothy, who is my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, and he will remind you of my ways which are in Christ, just as I teach everywhere in every church. Now some have become arrogant, as though I were not coming to you. But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I shall find out, not the words of those who are arrogant but their power. For the kingdom of God does not consist in words but in power (1 Cor. 4:14-20).

The Discipline Of Sonship

When God starts something His intention is for it to multiply. So often, however, we’ve seen that which God started, falling into the wrong hands and before you know it, the move of God stagnates. The cry in my heart is for history not to repeat itself in this generation. The scribe that has become a disciple of the kingdom will take out of his treasure things both old and new (Matt. 13:52). You do not throw everything away. There are treasures that God delivered throughout the church age which cannot go lost. We have to see this international universal ‘wineskin’ connected so God can pour out the best wine which is reserved for last. He is not going to pour out the best wine into old broken wineskins.

The Centrality Of The Son Of God

It is very clear that Jesus was the first born of all creation (Col. 1:15; John 1:2). Through Him and for Him all things have been created (Col. 1:16). A question we should ask – especially since Jesus said that “as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be at the coming of the Son of Man…” – is “what brought God to a point of being grieved and sorry that He had made man?” (Gen. 6:6,7). It sounds impossible and without logic that the sovereign all-knowing God created man and then was sorry that He had made him. God was ready to wipe out mankind, animals and plants, everything.

Our Adoption As Sons (Learning Obedience From The Things We Suffer)

Let us look at (and submit to) a very important function of the Holy Spirit – the Spirit of adoption. So often we experience inner adjustments and an enlarging for more of God. This stretching is not without pain and sometimes leaves us with questions. This is where we should not blame the devil. If we do not experience the continuous enlarging and stretching on the inside, there is the risk of stagnation. The Holy Spirit is bringing us to the place where every decision we make is led by the Spirit of God. The sons of God are those who are led by the Spirit of God (Rom. 8:14). The voice is no longer behind you, it is in you.

Our Blessed Hope (Anchored In The Resurrection Of Jesus Christ)

Much has been said from this pulpit about living in the now, living in the present; do not live in the past or the future. Do not worry about tomorrow or yesterday (Matt. 6:25-34). Western society has conditioned us to always stress about tomorrow or to grieve failures of the past or to revel in achievements of the past, while today slips by and we live in the vacuum. That does not mean, however, that we do not have a future! ......

God’s Plan For His Sons

The Lord is raising the water level. I saw the waters knee deep but the Lord wants to bring us waters to swim in, waters that will take us off our feet, where we will float and lose our own control; where we lose our ability to keep things in our order. It means we must release our order so we can contain the order of the Lord.

This Word is directed to all potential overcomers; a people ready to receive instruction; a people who sincerely love the Lord and who are called according to His purpose.

There is a tremendous responsibility resting upon us – a finishing generation – who are still running the race, to realise the finishing part that we are going to play in perfecting those who died in the faith without having received the promise. “… all these (and the list will include all those who died in the faith right up to the present time), having gained approval through their faith, did not receive what was promised, because God had provided something better for us, so that apart from us they would not be made perfect” (Heb 11:39-40). There is a responsibility upon us to look beyond playing church, look beyond just “making a living”. […]

Sonship: Overcoming The Tempter

Series: Sonship

Sun am 5 September 2010 – Kobus Swart

Rev. 21:7; Eph. 6:1; Matt. 6:10; Jas. 1:13-15; Heb. 5:8; Heb. 4:15; Acts 10:  ;

1 Cor. 10:13; Rev. 12:1-6, 11; (1 John 2:151-17); (Prov. 22:6)

Mature sons are overcomers. (1 Jn.2:13; Rev.21:7). We have to start training our children even before they reach the age of accountability (which used to be at the age of 14 in Jewish culture, but will be different in today’s various cultures) to be overcomers. We need to teach them to rule their own spirits. Below the age of accountability, the parents take the rap for the children’s wrongdoing. Eph. 6:1 says, “Children, obey your parents.” The first thing a young child has to overcome is disobedience (Jesus learned obedience from the things He suffered [Heb 5:8]); then to overcome a rebellious spirit, laziness etc. Bend the tree while it is young (Prov. 22:6). They will reach the age of accountability when God will hold them responsible for their own choices. The responsibility is in our hands to instill Biblical values and principles in their lives when they are young. […]

Towards A New Motivation Of Spirit

Series: Sonship

Sun am 29 August 2010 – Kobus Swart

Rom. 16:20; John 12:25-26; 1 John 4:18; John 13:35; Matt. 22:37-40;

1 Cor. 15:31; 1 Kings 17:1-9; 1 Kings 18, 19; Matt. 5:6; Psa. 42:1-5 (Message);

(Heb. 4:12); Matt. 6:33; Psa. 37:4; Rom. 8

“Listen carefully: Unless a grain of wheat is buried in the ground, dead to the world, it is never any more than a grain of wheat”. Jesus was actually saying to them, “As long as I am in this body, Jesus of Nazareth, the world is going to battle to see Me. But you are going to see the Christ in His many membered Body. “But if it is buried, it sprouts and reproduces itself many times over”. Then follows a very important key for us all: “In the same way, anyone who holds on to life just as it is destroys that life. But if you let it go, reckless in your love, you’ll have it forever, real and eternal.” (John 12:24-25 – Msg). Without this we will take hold of Romans 8 on the wrong level. There is a certain level of existence that people are clinging to; we can call it mindsets (which govern what we do). Apostolic teaching is aimed at destroying those mindsets (2 Cor 10:4,5) so that we can say “We now have the mind of Christ.”

Towards Being Saved To The Uttermost (The Role Of The Holy Spirit)

Series: Sonship, Holy Spirit

Sun am 22 August 2010 – Kobus Swart

(Gen. 3:8-11); Col. 1:13; Heb. 10:14; Psalms 144:12; Heb. 5:12-14; Rom. 7:5-7, 23-25; Rev. 21:7; Rom. 8:1-4, 6-8, 9-19; 1 Cor. 15:50; 1 John 2:16; 1 Cor.6:19; 1 Thess. 5:23

“For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brethren” (Rom 8:29).

God instructed Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden, “… from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden… You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.” (Gen 3:3). The spirit inside Adam died when they disobeyed God. In Christ the curse on humankind is broken. When we are born again our spirit comes alive. This is not, however, where it ends.

Sonship: Beware Of The Eclipse!

Series: Sonship

Sun am 15 August 2010 – Kobus Swart

2 Cor. 3:1-3; (John 5:19, 43); Psa. 127:1-5; Psa. 128:1-6; 2 Tim. 2:2; Psa. 144:12; Amos 9:13; John 14:12;  Rom. 8:14, 18-19, 23, 26-29; Rev. 21:7; 1 John 4:17; John 12:24; 1 Cor. 12:12

“You are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read by all men…” (2 Cor. 3:2). Paul was saying; “Wherever I move, people can see you are written on my heart, you are a letter on our hearts.”  So wherever the apostolic team went, people could read sons – “living epistles” – on their hearts. People must read something that is written on the tablets of our hearts. In other words, the messenger has become the message. People read what is written on your heart. Living epistles is the way God is going to infect the world, not talking one thing and living another. “Being manifested that you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts”. (2 Cor. 3:3). This is the way the heavenly Father wants to infect the world and expand His family.

“What’s Next Papa?” (Are You Walking In God’s Master Plan For Your Life?)

Series: Sonship

Sun am 27 June 2010 – Kobus Swart

Ps. 139:1-16; Jer. 29:11-14; Prov. 16:1-9; Prov. 19:21; Prov. 20:18, Prov. 21:2; Eph. 2:10; Rom. 8:9-18, 28-39–The Message; (Matt. 25:41); (John 3:16); (Heb. 12:1-11)

God has a master plan for you, and so does Satan. Outside of living in the plan of God, there will be no real fulfilment. You might find temporary adventure and excitement, but ultimately you will not find fulfilment. There is a way which seems right unto man, but the end of that road is disaster. People are looking for something that will give definition to their purpose on earth. Either you connect with God’s plan, or Satan will be too eager to have you connecting with his plan for your life.

The Test Of True Fatherhood

Series: Fathers and Sons; Sonship

Sun am 9 May 2010 – Kobus Swart

(Luke 19:13); Eph. 1:4-5, 22-23; (Luke 3:38); (Gen. 1:28); Mal. 4:6; (Gen. 11:26); (Gen. 10:8-9); (Gen. 9:22-25); 1 John 2:12-14; (Heb. 4)

Our Heavenly Father always views things from a trans-generational perspective. He is always the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Many Christians, however, still cling to a one-generational mindset – Jesus can come “any minute”. But Christ Himself told us to occupy (do business) till He comes (Luke19:13).

Before time began, Father chose us in Christ and predestined us to adoption as sons (Eph. 1:4-5). […]

Recognising The Orphan Mindset In The Parable Of The Prodigal

Kobus Swart                    Series: Sonship

Luke 15:3-32; Luke 3:38; (John 5:43); 2 Cor. 5:18-20; 2 Peter 1:2-4; (Hagg. 2:8); (Matt. 21:2);

(Psalms 128); (2 Cor. 5:1-4)

Jesus came to reintroduce humankind to the Father after Adam’s Fall had seen the beginning of an orphan culture. There is therefore no more need to live as orphans. However, the spirit of religion has so overtaken the world that it keeps on feeding that orphan mindset.

The Finishing Phase To Full Sonship

Series: Sonship

Sun am 6 December 2009 – Kobus Swart

Luke 3:38; John 17:22; John 1:29; Jude 1:5; Gen. 10-11; Rev. 17:5; Jer. 52:28-30;

1 John 2:12-14; Rom. 8:14, 19;  Heb. 5: 12-14; Rom. 10:9 Josh. 1:2;

Mal. 4: 6; John 4:31-34

God’s ultimate intention was to have sons of God. The whole frustration in Christendom is in the lack of understanding of what God’s original intention for mankind was and still is: The Son Jesus Christ in His corporate son. The emphasis is shifting rapidly to the corporate; away from individualism and it is going to affect every sphere of our Christian walk. The new wine is in the cluster. God is going to deal heavily with relationships in the Kingdom. The Kingdom operates in relationships; it does not operate in a vacuum. Perfection comes in the corporate. Jesus said, “That they may all be ONE…I have given them My glory”, it is not to an individual.
