Wisdom From Ecclesiastes

A large part of our faith journey is learning to challenge the perspectives we have about God, about ourselves and the people around us. "In addition to being a wise man, the Preacher also taught the people knowledge; and he pondered, searched out and arranged many proverbs. The Preacher sought to find delightful words and to write words of truth correctly. The words of wise men are like goads, and masters of these collections are like well-driven nails; they are given by one Shepherd. But beyond this, my son, be warned: the writing of many books is endless, and excessive devotion to books is wearying to the body. The conclusion, when all has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person. For God will bring every act to judgment, everything which is hidden, whether it is good or evil" (Eccl. 12:9-14).

God Is Dealing With You As With Sons (The Sons Of The Kingdom Will Leaven Society)

It is no longer a secret – things are shaking in all levels of society worldwide. Even in the Church of God things are shaking. This should not surprise us any longer. The writer of Hebrews reminds us that we “...have not come to a mountain that can be touched and to a blazing fire, and to darkness and gloom and whirlwind, and to the blast of a trumpet and the sound of words which sound was such that those who heard begged that no further word be spoken to them.

A Word For The New Year: Transition!

Sun am 10 January 2010 – Kobus Swart

Rom 4:2-5 (Message Bible); Eph 2:6; 1 Peter 2:24; Matt.11:11; John 3:1-3;

1 Kings 18:21; Rev. 3:16; (Matt. 13:44)

(A God Story – Jean Labuschagne): If Abraham, by what he did for God, got God to approve him, he could certainly have taken credit for it. But the story we’re given is a God-story, not an Abraham-story. What we read in Scripture is, “Abraham entered into what God was doing for him, and that was the turning point. He trusted God to set him right instead of trying to be right on his own.” If you’re a hard worker and do a good job, you deserve your pay; we don’t call your wages a gift. But if you see that the job is too big for you, that it’s something only God can do, and you trust him to do it–you could never do it for yourself no matter how hard and long you worked–well, that trusting-him-to-do-it is what gets you set right with God, by God. Sheer gift. (Rom 4:2-5 The Message Bible)

Kobus Swart: All of us are always in transition until the perfect has come. We are on various levels of transition to maturity and perfection. We must, however, adopt God’s viewpoint. […]

Upgrade Your Walk With God

Sun am 29 November 2009 – Kobus Swart

Gen. 5:22-24; Gen.6:9; Gen. 22:1; Matt. 16:13-18; Luke 22:31-32;

2 Cor. 13:14; 2 Cor. 5:16; Rom. 12:1-2; Heb. 12:26-27; 1 Cor. 3:12;

1 Thess. 5:17; Mal. 4:5-6

One of the best ways to describe a Christian is somebody who has a walk with God. Many people feel that to be a Christian is to survive until Jesus comes. Your walk with God starts when you are born again; when you hand over the reigns of your life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.

The patriarchs in the Bible all had an intimate walk with God. Some are specifically mentioned.

Then Enoch walked with God three hundred years after he became the father of Methuselah, and he had other sons and daughters. So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him (Gen 5:22-24).

Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his time; Noah walked with God (Gen 6:9). […]

Contentment In An Evil And Perverse Generation

Sun am 22 November 2009 – Kobus Swart

Heb. 4:12; Phil. 2:12-16; Phil. 3:12-13; Phil. 4:9-19; 1 Tim. 6:6-10; (Gal. 1:6-8)

Each confessing, believing Christian has a ‘spirit man’ on the inside that needs to be nurtured and grow. The soulish being too often still dominates the spirit man in you, that determines your reactions to pressure? Roots of insecurities, suspicion, unforgiveness and bitterness must be dealt with as you allow the proceeding Word to penetrate your being and divide between soul and spirit (Heb 4:12).

A big one in today’s evil and perverse generation is the spirit of discontentment; never feeling […]

Lets Learn from the Future

Samuel Festus

Joshua 14 : 7 – 14; Deut 1: 22-38; John 17 :21-23

This Household ‘ Bizweni’ is moving toward the future that God has mapped out for us. It’s our destiny to be here.  We are the fruit of this house. For those of us who have connected to the father of this house, you either know your place as a son or you are beginning to discover it.

12 men from Israel were sent to look at the promised land and report back their experiences. Ten of these men’s reports made the hearts of the people melt with fear, their reports were negative. They believed in their heart that God brought them to the promised- land to die. Their hearts were not aligned to what God said. God promised that he would take them into the Promised Land, and it is God’s responsibility to keep His promise. It took them 40 years to reach the Promised Land due to their choices.
