Bizweni Church was founded by Pastor Kobus Swart in 1986 in what was then an old factory shed. After acquiring some property in the heart of Somerset West, Bizweni budded and became integrated into the life of the surrounding community.

With the support of partner ministries, Bizweni was able to establish the Bizweni Pre-Primary which is now in its 26th year of providing quality education to young children. Shortly afterwards, The Centre for Children with Disabilities was started, which offers practical care and genuine love for children with a wide variety of disabilities. Our latest addition to the Bizweni ministry campus is Bizweni Private School. Established in 2015, Bizweni Private is in the early stages of its development, with what evidentially appears to be a bright future ahead of it.

Our community extends beyond our local vicinity, breaking both national and international boundaries. It is our conviction that the church exists across all geographic, cultural and national borders. We are a vibrant, multi-cultural family with a passion for worship and a huge love for people. Together we stand, serving an Almighty God and demonstrating His life changing love to the world!

What denomination does Bizweni fall under?

Though strictly speaking Bizweni is non-denominational, we have several relational ties to a number of Apostolic Networks both locally and internationally, including The Judah Kingdom Alliance and Global Horizons UK. It is our conviction that the Church of Jesus Christ is one body with many different expressions. Our heart is to see the Body of Christ in each city or town, as the Apostle Paul describes it in 1 Cor. 12:12. "Even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ."

What else is happening on the Bizweni Campus?

Bizweni Campus is a bustling hive of activity during the week. What started out as a church many years ago has grown into a place of education for all ages. Starting with ages 3-6, Bizweni Pre-Primary (Overseen by Principal Lizette Williams), boasts a 25-year history of educating kids from all over.
Our most recent addition to the campus is the Bizweni Private School. Built on the success of Bizweni Pre-Primary, Bizweni Private School is in the early phases of being established as a fully functioning primary school. Currently working with grades 1-3 our teachers are dedicated to an education based on integrity and creativity for all their learners.
In addition to that we have the Bizweni Centre for Disabled Children (overseen by Vicky Hinrichsen) which seeks to develop children with disabilities through a wide range of educational tools, including physical and speech therapy. With such a loving and caring staff, Bizweni Centre for Disabled Children is as much a place of safety and refuge for those most vulnerable in our society.
Our community outreach wing is run by The Institute for Social Concerns (overseen by Shane Egypt) which focuses on a number of different projects seeking to empower less privileged communities with both resources and programs. Ranging from High School oriented peer training initiatives to feeding schemes, The Institute has a heart set on holistic community development.
Oakfields College, though not stemming from Bizweni roots, operates on Bizweni Campus with full-time courses for those with an inclination towards the creative arts. With a colourful array of courses, Oakfields College invites its learners to embrace and express the creativity of life through modes from graphic design to photography and many more.
