As there is an order to your body, so is there an order to the cosmos, to the heavens and how all things are ruled, and everything produces after its own kind. Everything in God’s creation has an order and a science to it. There’s not only an order to worship in the temple, there is not only the order of word and of government in Scripture; there is also the order of economics. Everything has advanced from the times of old until now through the generations, except in the Church. The order was that each generation is greater than the generation before it; that our children live better lives than we have lived. When you consider how everything has advanced from generation to generation, and as a Body of Christ, we have become bigger, but less influential, less powerful. There is a lack of ability to execute vision.
I want to know why the majority of the people of God world-wide are broke. Have we forgotten our government, our citizenship, our living rule? Jesus said you cannot serve God and Mammon (money). It is hard for the rich to enter the kingdom. It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle (Mark 10:25). Jesus was using the allegory that rich people think they are rich and their mind-set makes it difficult for them to understand the order of God.
Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers (3 John 1:2). Our prosperity cannot come from money. The harder you try the worse it gets. Prosperity comes from your soul. There is a system. Jesus is our pattern, our example; we follow in His footsteps. Jesus lived under the order of the kingdom because there is an order in God’s economy. He owns the cattle on a thousand hills; our God is not broke. Jesus was born from the lineage of King David, He was of royal blood. The wise men knew far in advance of His birth and travelled for months to bring their gold, frankincense and myrrh to honour the new born king. They must have brought all their military might to come in and go out. When Jesus died, His clothes were seamless meaning it was the attire of royalty and the soldiers cast lots for His clothes. The Pharisees feared Him because He was not poor. This Jesus was so wealthy that historians and scholars estimate that in today’s money He received approximately $200-$400 million in worth from these kings/wise men. When they ran out of wine at the wedding, his mother came to him to tell Him they had run out of wine; she wanted Him to go and buy it. When five thousand people had been sitting and listening to Him preach for hours, and the people became hungry, the disciples came to Jesus because they needed to feed them. Jesus had a treasurer who carried a purse of money, and they wanted to buy food to feed the people. All along Jesus was trying to show them a higher order. He never talked about money; He always talked about His Father and the Kingdom. Jesus is the King of kings, so royal that the heavens obeyed Him. The winds and storms heard Him; everything beneath Him responded to Him and everything above Him came to His aid. He never worked for money; money worked for Him.
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron’s beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore (Ps. 133). This describes a unity, a covenant. The run-off from the snow covered peaks of Mount Hermon provides the principle source of water for the Jordan River. It goes into the Dead Sea and dumps an average of 6 million tons of water every twenty four hours. The dew that comes down on the hills of Zion, like the anointing that was poured on the head of Aaron; that would get down onto the skirts of his garment; that is the order of God. The people of God should come together under this system of unity and understand that it flows from head to toe. So God is showing us that when he poured oil on Aaron’s head, he took six quarts of oil and he poured it on his head and it dripped down his beard and the fabric of his clothes, all the way down the skirts of his garment. And God said, as it descends it gets greater. What starts off as dew becomes a river, what begins just as a minor flow becomes a mighty outpour; the lower it gets, the greater it gets. The woman who touched the hem of Jesus garment understood this principle (Luke 8:43-47). She knew if she touched the hem of the garment, the Spirit that is on top of the head would flow down, and the greatest anointing is down! The next generation has to be greater. Jesus said, “You will do greater things” (John 14:12). Why have we not done them? We have digressed, not progressed. We have been out of order. We see that there is a system and principle by which the Lord moves, a system by which the Lord flows.
A son honoureth his father, and a servant his master: if then I be a father, where is mine honour? and if I be a master, where is my fear? saith the Lord of hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, Wherein have we despised thy name? Ye offer polluted bread upon mine altar; and ye say, Wherein have we polluted thee? In that ye say, The table of the Lord is contemptible. And if ye offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the Lord of hosts. And now, I pray you, beseech God that he will be gracious unto us: this hath been by your means: will he regard your persons? saith the Lord of hosts (Mal. 1:6-9). The tithe of Malachi was a third year tithe; it was not the tithe of the Lord. There were three tithes in Scripture. The tithe of Malachi was a third year tithe; they would gather for three years and it was brought into the storehouse which was for the poor, to give them food. There was the first tithe, second tithe and third tithe. The first tithe is the Lord’s. If you only tithe you haven’t given anything to God. The tithe is a destroyer – if you keep it in your pocket, it will put a hole in it; you will lose it. God is going to create kingdom entrepreneurs. The power of wealth comes out of their soul. It is not out of the entrapment of money.
For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows (1 Tim. 6:7-10). The love of money is the common condition of humanity. He needs, he is greedy and motivated for survival. A kingdom people must function under a different order, a different government, a different economy. For us it must not be financial but apostolic, kingdom. Poverty has nothing to do with money. If you want to learn about the systems of God you go to the Old Testament because it is the school master that leads you to Christ (Gal. 3:24).
All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the Lord sware unto your fathers (Deut. 8:1). God gives them an appointment, a constitution and a charge (Deut. 12:1, 28). God gives us the pattern for his blessings to overtake us (Deut. 28:1-2). Your business, your work and whatever it is you do, will begin to work for you. The benefits of following this constitution affect your position and your condition; it affects your environment and it will affect your investments. It will give you a future for your children, it shuts down your enemies, causes increase in your storehouse, it establishes you as a holy people unto God; it gives you favour from heaven and causes you to have the treasures. The reason why people love money is because it removes dependency from the order of God. Once people make decisions based on their money, money becomes their source and their god. “Thou shall have no other god before Me” (Deut. 5:7). The operation of God is not to take people out of poverty, but to take poverty out of people. Poverty is a spiritual disease, not an economical one. People with a lot of money can be very poor; they hang onto it for dear life. They live for it, they are insecure, they hang on to it; they do not want anybody to know. They will not give anything because they are stingy; it is the spirit of poverty.
You either serve God or money. Why do you work? If you work for money to eat and to live, you are out of order; you are a slave to it. If you work for a living, you are out of order; it rules your life, it is a god. Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you (Matt. 6:31-33). Jesus shows them a much higher system of economy, where you do not work for a living, but the living works for you. Why are you in business? There must be a higher cause for your business; there must be a higher purpose for making money. It must be for the advancement of the kingdom of God. It must be a kingdom business where God is the Chairman of the board. God sets the principles. But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day (Deut. 8:18). There is a system of power that gets the wealth, so that He may establish His covenant in the earth. There is an order to this (1 Chron. 15:13-Amplified). The Old Testament is the New Testament concealed, the New Testament is the Old Testament revealed. God told Moses to build everything according to the pattern. The principle is that God gives the seed. The seed is sovereign; this principle governs God’s creation. It is the concept that maintains the order and eliminates extinction. Breaking away from the order of God is breaking away from God. Without the first, which is the seed which is the tithe, there is no first-fruit. This takes us beyond the money, you must see the principle. He commands to leave an inheritance to our children’s children. So poverty is more than a lack of money, so is wealth more than just a possessing of it. If poverty is being in want and being in need, or insecurity and holding on, then wealth is not wanting but being above the want. The word “wealth” comes from the meaning of something that is of virtue, force and valour; it describes something of strength.
The tithe is the Lord’s (Lev. 27:30). Christ lives in the power of an endless life. He is after the Melchizedek order. The Melchizedek order receives tithes. Abraham in heaving up to Melchizedek established this first fruit principle of the tithe for the Levites who were still in his loins, to receive its benefit, thereby guaranteeing their inheritance in God and their portion. Paul explains to the Philippians that because they were obedient to the fruits they brought him, that as their apostle, that his God would supply all their needs according to His riches in glory (Phil. 4:19). Paul became the portion of God unto them and became the channel through which God moved.
The sons of Adam came to give unto the Lord. One brought it with honour; the other brought it with grudging. He refused the one and accepted the other. With Abraham, culturally there was a system of honour. Once Abraham heaved the tithe to Melchizedek, He received it. The Aaronic priesthood took the tithe, it was law. Melchizedek simply received it; it is honour, it is not order, it is not law. Once he received it the very coming generation was blessed in his loins before they were born. Only after that God brought the promise of Isaac which was a result of the Melchizedek order, and “Out of you I will make kings in the earth” God said to Abraham; “Out of you I will bless the nations” (Gen. 26:4). Abraham understood the system of honour of heaving up to a higher order.
We have fallen away from this system in God. Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine (Prov. 3:9-10). The word “honour” is a command; it means to be heavy, honourable, rare, and rich. It is the same word as glory. In Greek it means to value, revere, to treat with a difference and submission. To manifest the highest veneration for, in words and actions, to entertain the most exalted thought of worship, to adore, to raise to distinction, to elevate in rank. People of honour possess a high mind, have a different state of being; they hold a position in God that others do not. Honour proceeds from an upright, just, proper mind; not reproachable, nor hypocritical or deceptive.
Some think humility comes with poverty, but poverty means you are a captive! Everywhere in the world there are poor Christians, the majority of the people are broke. The whole religious order is about money. Study the order and everything will change. And he shall wave the sheaf before the Lord, to be accepted for you (Lev. 23:11). So when you receive your harvest, and you want to involve it with God, you bring it to the priest and he takes a handful and he waves it before God, to be acceptable for you.
God’s order in His economy was that once your received your harvest, you would bring it to the priest and you heave it, and it is honour. As far as the people are concerned when they wanted to give something to the Lord, they would bring it to the priest, because God chose him to be the ‘instead’ in the place representing God, and the priest would be receiving it on behalf of God (Num. 18:8-14, 20-30). The priest would not have any portion of the land, but he was God’s inheritance. This means that as far as the people were concerned, God is represented in the priest He has sent us. When we receive the priest, we receive the God who anointed him and sent him. Once the priest received it, once they heave it, God will count it (vs. 30). When God counts it, it is as if you gave Him the whole field. What God is saying is when you bring it to the priest, who is (as) God among the people, he is God’s inheritance; he is God’s representation. People cannot receive that; that is why they are broke. We need a different breed of people who understand what it means to be royal, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people, and a treasure among all the people of the earth. The system of honour has remained all through Scripture, that is why Paul said only to those who took care of him, “My God shall supply all your needs” (Phil. 4:19). Tithers have a different position in God; they hold a place of honour.
Aaron had to change his observation of his older brother. As far as Aaron was concerned, when Moses said something, it was God saying it (Ex. 4:16).
You cannot serve God and money. So how do you do it? If you do a job, don’t do it for money, do it for the kingdom. It gives it a higher purpose. I am no longer serving the money, the money is going to start serving me; it is a change of position. It is the motivation as to why you do what you do. If you are working to make a living, the living will control your living, but if you seek first the kingdom of God, all the other things will be added to you.
It is slave thinking to give only if there is a need. It should rather be a thing of honour: I am honouring God by heaving it up to the priest He has sent. God receives it, counts it and gives me in return as if I had given the whole field. The tithe is the Lords, it never went to buildings, and it never went to operations. Offerings took care of everything else. You have not given anything until you bring an offering because the tithes are already the Lords. The blessing is in the increase, which is the offering. It is the only place in all Scripture where God says, “Prove me now and see” (Mal. 3:10). There has to be a motivation, an execution and vision on how this house will be changed. Why are we in the conditions and positions we are in? If you only have an apple, give me the first bite, because I want you to get in order. In whatever way you can start and get into position, start somewhere with the understanding that the kingdom of God is first. God anointed a man who is His portion among the people. This is kingdom order. No kingdom people should be without the principle of honour.
