Our heart’s desire is that what is planted will come to fruition and that the Word will become flesh again and we will impact our sphere of influence. We know that the stature of Christ grows until we come to mature man. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time (this present life) are not worth being compared with the glory that is about to be revealed to us and in us and for us and conferred on us! (Rom. 8:18-Amp). This is sonship! The kingdom belongs to true sons, it is our heritage. The alignment with the word of the kingdom will bring about this mature incarnation. At a critical moment you will have the unveiling. But at the critical point of fruit-bearing you will find there is something similar to wheat that comes up in the field (Matt. 13:24-26). The enemy comes unnoticed and only at the bearing of what it was created for, the difference becomes apparent. You can only identify it when it reaches this point of maturity. You then see the difference. In the explanation of the passage Jesus says that the field is the world, and the good seed are the sons of the kingdom, and the tares or ‘darnel’ are the sons of the evil one (Matt. 13:38). He categorizes two types of sons.

There are other examples of two types of sons; Jacob and Esau, Cain and Abel, the prodigal and the elder brother. Then there are two sons of David. One is the fourth son who is Adonijah the son of Haggith. He came after Absalom and he was the elder brother of Solomon. The Lord had established David as king over Israel (2 Sam. 5:12). Then we see that Adonijah exalted himself as king, which is equivalent to him coming in this own name (1 Kings 1:5-7). He consulted with the priest who was a descendent of Eli. We need to compare this with the rise of Solomon and look at Adonijah as a type and as a son in the kingdom. Joab abdicated his position and subjected himself to an illegitimate authority. After the death of Absalom, Solomon was supposed to be king (2 Samuel 16:7-8). You have Shimei, Joab and the priest, all supporting Adonijah. Why did Adonijah set himself up as king when he knew that his brother was chosen by the Lord to be king? The expectation of the people was more to him than the Word of the Lord and the will of God (1 Kings 2:15). It was clear who was to be king but he set himself up in the kingdom as a son.

Solomon was God’s appointed son (1 Chron. 22:9-10). When Bathsheba heard what Adonijah did, she went to king David (1 Kings 1:17; 29-30). What should have been the expectation for the kingdom? Peace and rest. But if you read further you see Solomon was a man of alliances. Solomon defiantly loved many women and in his old age his wives turned his heart to other gods. So the Lord said to Solomon, “Because you have done this, and you have not kept My covenant and My statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom from you, and will give it to your servant (1 Kings 11:1-11). But God had promised, He shall build a house for My name, and he shall be My son and I will be his father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel forever (1 Chron. 22:10). Which son was the Father referring to, who’s right it was and whose authority would be for ever and ever? (Isa. 9:7). The Son of God, the Son of Man, Jesus the Son!

We can look at the process in the New Testament, concerning the incarnation of these two types of sons. It is clear in Jesus’ conversations with the Pharisees. They said, “Abraham is our father” and said they were heirs of the kingdom and the authority belonged to them. They said to Jesus, You are doing the deeds of your father.” They said to Him, “We were not born of fornication; we have one Father: God” (John 8:41). Jesus responded, “If God were your Father, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and have come from God, for I have not even come on My own initiative, but He sent Me (John 8:42). I have come in My Father’s name, and you do not receive Me; if another comes in his own name, you will receive him (John 5:43). This is a fundamental problem. People who are received come in their own name and do not acknowledge the sent ones. Jesus’ authority came from the One who sent Him, His Father. I know that you are Abraham’s descendants; yet you seek to kill Me, because My word has no place in you (John 8:37). The enemy wants to stop the corporate Son’s incarnation. Jesus is the Head and we His Body. In another confrontation they challenged Jesus’ authority and they did not acknowledge Him. It is clear that you have two types of sons, the one who wants to stop the incarnation and then you have the sons of the kingdom.

We have been transferred into the kingdom (Col. 1:13). The authority is given to us through sonship; the Son in the sons. Paul was in travail until Christ was fully formed in them
(Gal. 4:19); those who love Him and are called according to His purposes. Is this the reason why certain things happen to us? We want the Word to become flesh again. God is dealing with us as with sons (Heb. 12:6-7). We are sons in the kingdom of God and we need to submit to His dealings. The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him so that we may also be glorified with Him. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. … (Rom. 8:16-21).

Among those born of women there has not arisen anyone greater than John the Baptist, yet the least in the kingdom is greater than he (Matt. 11:11). Behold, I am going to send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the Lord. He will restore the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to their fathers, so that I will not come and smite the land with a curse (Mal. 4:5-6).

God is not a man that He should lie (Num. 23:19). He wants to bring doubt as to our true authority as sons. God builds generationally and relationally.
