What is Boost?

Boost is an initiative which is specifically aimed at the further training and equipping of those committed to their walk with Jesus. With different themes for each series, Boost seeks to delve deeper into the given topic with the use of theological reading material and resources. The dialogue-based setting allows for the attendants to share opinions and findings with one another, creating a rich environment for learning.

Boost 2016 Comes to an End!

There is no doubt that everyone who took on the challenge of Boost 2016 will walk away with a sense of extreme accomplishment! Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s The Cost of Discipleship is no small task: those who hadn’t read in a while found they were stretching some long-forgotten brain cells and seriously putting their minds to the test!

Aside from a feeling of having achieved something quite big, the overall response to this study was a sense of having been challenged, moved and deeply enriched. Bonhoeffer unravels Scripture in a totally unique way, shedding light on Jesus’ teaching throughout the gospel of Matthew, clearing up all that may once have appeared murky. Church members of all ages and stages of their walk with Christ attended this year’s study, but we all found we were looking at the familiar question, how to live in obedience to Christ, with fresh eyes.

As the weeks progressed, Boost students began to reach new levels of reading and discussion, ever pushing themselves into deeper theological and ethical territory. Boost offers a wonderful opportunity for church members to spend time together outside of the usual Sunday service and Life Groups. Those who persevered undoubtedly left with a deeper knowledge of the Scripture, and a couple of new friends as well.

Boost survivors, well done! I hope that this year’s study has inspired you to read more, to seek out Christian literature that stimulates and moves you on a deeper level, and encourages you on your walk with Christ.
