John 17:20-21; Heb. 9:26; Heb. 1:1-2; Eph. 1:10; Matt. 1: 23; John 1:1, 14; Heb. 2:10; Isa. 9:7; Eph. 4:13, 15; Rev. 1:12-13; 2 Thess. 1:10John 7:14, 37-38; John 3:16; 1 John 4:8, 17; Col. 1:13; Col. 3:1-15; 1 Cor. 12:12; Prov. 23:7-KJV; Ps. 46:10; Prov. 4:23.

I want to be sure we understand the phrase that is used in the Bible in several verses, which talks about “the fullness of time”. What does it mean? There is a lot of speculation about when and what the end is all about. What do we think the world out there is waiting for? When will the world believe the Gospel?

Has Jesus given us the answer? I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me (John 17:20-21). The interpenetration of God and man is what the world must see before they believe. What is the world seeing today? Multitudes of churches, divisions, church politics etc. Regarding the fullness of times Paul says: But when the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law (Gal. 4:4). It does not say that when the fullness of time came, the world exploded and everything was over. No! God sent His Son! Now once at the consummation of the ages He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself (Heb. 9:26). This is another way of referring to the fullness of time: Jesus died on the cross at the consummation of the ages. God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world (Heb. 1:1-2). God is looking for an administration suitable to the fulness of the times – the summing up of all things in Christ, things in the heavens and things on the earth (Eph. 1:10). Everything in heaven and earth will be consummated in Christ.

The Messianic prophecies of the Old Testament only referred to one coming. When Jesus was born He was called ‘Emmanuel’ meaning ‘God with us’ (Matt. 1:23; John 1:1, 14). He came in the fullness of times, in the consummation of the ages, but that was the beginning of the final days. We are part of the unfolding towards the final unveiling!. Jesus came to bring many sons to glory (Heb. 2:10).

This is the purpose of the five-fold ministry: That we come to the full stature. … until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ (Eph. 4:23). This is talking about the corporate Christ. This is what the world is waiting to see: When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory (Col. 3:4). It is because we are in Him and He is in us. This is talking about the full stature. That is what Jesus meant in His prayer, “Father make them one, as You are in Me and I in You, them in Us, so that the world will believe” (John 17:20-21). These words will resound in the heavens from the Father again, “This is my corporate Son, listen to Him.” Remember the words in Hebrews 1: In theses last days God now speaks to us openly in the language of a SON (Passion translation) Do not associate with somebody who sows division. Satan fears oneness. Another prophetic picture is found in John 7 where they celebrated the Feast of Tabernacles: In the midst of the feast Jesus stepped into the Temple and started proclaiming the Word (John 7:14). The whole world will notice because living waters will flow from your inner being (John 7:37-38). God will do everything possible to finally capture the whole world (John 3:16), but He has a method – that is to bring the Church to oneness, to full stature, and then there will be a voice like the sound of many waters, and the world will listen in awe.

Let’s look at other qualities needed in us to accelerate the final process.
What must happen in us so that we fulfil our part in this bigger picture? The world is hungry to experience true love (agape) (1 John 4). As He is, so also are we in this world (1 John 4:17). This will attract the attention of the world, because we are here to put God on display. As He is love, so are we to be love in this world. Beyond all these things, put on love, which is the perfect bond of unity (Col 3:14).

We are called to be sons of light. We will be sons of light wherever it may be. We were called out of darkness into the kingdom of His beloved Son (Col. 1:13; John 12:36; 1 Thess. 5:5; Matt. 13:43). Manifest that! Become a son of light!

Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory (Col. 3:1-15). This is talking about the final unveiling. (1 Cor. 12:12). We are part of the Christ generation (1 Cor 12:12) of whom Jesus is the head. Put on a heart of compassion (Col. 3:12-13). Be a peacemaker rather than a trouble maker. Forgive one another (vs. 13-15). Let the peace of God rule in your heart!

The condition of our heart
An important key: our heart. For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he (Prov. 23:7 – KJV). The heart is defined as the inner man or subconscious mind. Feed your subconscious mind and inner man with truth. Find a way in intimacy with God; that is where it takes place. Intimacy with God, in quietness and peace, Be still, and know that I am God (Ps. 46:10). Words cannot describe what it does for you.

Dr Eben Alexander has some very interesting insights in his book about the electromagnetic field of the human heart: “Living In A Mindful Universe.” Here are some quotes:
“Remarkably, the heart’s toroidally shaped electric field is 60 times greater than that of the brain, and Its magnetic field is 5000 times greater than that of the brain”. This is talking about the physical organs. “The heart generates the strongest electromagnetic field in the body, and its pumping action transmits powerful rhythmic information patterns containing neurological, hormonal and electromagnetic data to the brain and throughout the rest of the body. The heart sends more information to the brain than the brain sends to the heart. In other words, the heart has a mind of its own. Studies reveal that this electromagnetic field seems to pick up information in the surrounding environment and also broadcasts one’s emotional state out from the body”. Your emotional state is radiated out from your body. Do not underestimate the heart. “The measurements reveal that the field is large enough to extend several feet (a meter or more) outside our bodies. Positive moods such a gratitude, joy and happiness correlate to a larger, more expanded heart field while emotions such as greed, anger or sadness correlate to a constricted heart field”. Is this why Solomon said, Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life (Prov. 4:23). [The word “heart” appears more than 60 times in the Book of Proverbs!].

Your heart plays a big role in trusting God. How can you surrender to somebody you do not trust? Do you trust God or to you want to do things your way? Do we trust God enough to wait? Be still and know that I am God (Ps. 46:10). Surrender your will because you trust Him. Resist anxiety, be anxious for nothing; trust God (Phil. 4:6). When circumstances make us anxious, learn to calm down. A tranquil heart is life to the body. As in water face reflects face, So the heart of man reflects man (Prov. 27:19).

Vulnerability and performance do not fit in the same place. Rather become vulnerable so God can address the issue. When we have been emotionally wounded, it forces us to have a ‘works-based’ relationship with our Heavenly Father. Especially if you had a bad relationship with your earthly father, it affects the way you relate to your heavenly Father. It is very important that we are healed on the inside and become emotionally well! The world is full of emotionally wounded people. He loved us even before we were born again, and His love will never change because God is love (1 John 4:8). Sit in the place of love. Allow Him to work on your heart.

For those who have been hurt emotionally, find a time of quietness. Sit in His love; let Him touch your heart. There is no short cut. My question to you this morning is: how is your heart? Our heart will determine how far we are in the conclusion of the consummation of the ages, so that the world can hear what the voice of the Church is all about. We have a responsibility. We must demonstrate the finished works to the world. What else is going to make them believers if they do not see it in us? Lord help us to stand before you vulnerable, open, so You can heal us, so we can grow up to full maturity as part of the corporate Son that will make the world believe.
