Speaker: Justus Swart

The Gospel of Mark provides a dynamic and action-oriented portrayal of Jesus’ ministry, and this study series aims to explore its broader context, interpretation, and practical application for believers today. As the earliest written gospel, likely around 70 AD, Mark draws heavily from the eyewitness testimony of the Apostle Peter, offering a vivid account of Jesus’ deeds rather than just His words. The series introduction highlights the pivotal role of John the Baptist, whose prophetic ministry heralded the arrival of Jesus, fulfilling centuries-old prophecies and ending a 400-year period of silence. The symbolism of John’s baptism at the Jordan River, reminiscent of Israel’s transition into the Promised Land, underscores the transformative shift to the Kingdom of God. This study invites the listener to engage deeply, not only through intellectual understanding but also by seeking the spiritual transformation that comes through Jesus’ baptism with the Holy Spirit.
