The Gospel of Mark (Part 23)

Date: 26 October 2025

Speaker: Justus Swart

In Mark 7:31–37, Jesus heals a man who is deaf and can hardly speak, revealing both His compassion and His divine authority. This miracle fulfills Isaiah’s prophecy that when God’s Kingdom comes, “the ears of the deaf will be unstopped, and the tongue of the dumb will shout for joy.” More than a physical healing, it’s a sign that the Messiah has arrived and that the Kingdom of God is breaking into the world.

For us today, this passage invites reflection: has the Lord opened our ears to truly hear His Word, and has He loosed our tongues to speak words of life and grace? When Jesus touches our lives, He restores not just our ability to hear and speak, but our purpose—to bear witness to His goodness and live as proof of His transforming power.
