The Gospel of Mark (Part 44)
Date: 18 October 2026
Speaker: Justus Swart
In Mark 12:18-27, the Sadducees attempt to discredit Jesus with a question designed to make the resurrection seem absurd, but His response exposes their failure to understand both the Scriptures and the power of God. Jesus reminds them that resurrection life will be fundamentally different from the life we know now, and that death cannot bring an end to God’s covenant promises. The passage challenges us to examine whether our understanding of God is shaped by His Word or by the assumptions and opinions of the world around us. Ultimately, we are called to know the Scriptures, trust in the power of God, and stand firmly in His truth, confident that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
