The Gospel of Mark (Part 45)

Date: 1 November 2026

Speaker: Justus Swart

In Mark 12:28-34, Jesus identifies wholehearted love for God as the greatest commandment, followed by the call to love our neighbours as ourselves. He reminds us that genuine obedience is not simply about religious activity or outward observance, but about a heart fully devoted to God. The passage challenges us to consider whether God truly comes first in our lives or whether our love is divided between Him and the things we desire. Ultimately, the greatest commandment reveals how often we fall short of loving God as we should, reminding us that we need a Saviour who has loved the Father perfectly and, through His Spirit, is helping us to love Him more each day.
